C Mason McTavish - Peterborough Petes, OHL (2021, 3rd, ANA)

This kid has probably been the best player in the OHL this season when he got back from his NHL/AHL stint.

Crazy year for him lol

Will the ducks let him participate in the WJC this summer?

Really curious to see NHL teams stances on this. Completely unique situation and there should be a decent amount of players that played in it earlier this season but likely have a good chance at making their NHL clubs in the fall.

It's also possible that McTavish has quite the long spring/summer. The bulldogs are likely the favourites to win the OHL this year, and if that happens he'll be heading to the memorial cup shortly after. So I could totally see the ducks wanting him to have rest over the summer and be ready to go in the NHL at training camp.

Hamilton is currently 8-0 in the playoffs. Hopefully McTavish gets a shot at the Memorial Cup this year.
Fingers crossed the Bulldigs can make it to the MemCup. They have a deep team. McTavish is a man among boys in the OHL this year.

He’s definitely to good for the OHL. I could see him in the A for part of the year then promoted mid season

Ducks have space in mid after Getzlaf retirement. McTavish would have to fail horribly during summer to not make it for NHL.

He's going to be special. Same script as Draisaitl for the most part.
That's acutally who his shot reminds me of most.... His first career professional goal is a good example of that. He doesn't have anywhere near Drai playmaking but he has strength with the puck and a shot just like Drai's imo.

Make your predictions for his professional career now... Gotta assume his junior career is over. His shot reminds me of Drai at times but his overall game reminds me of a heavier Pavelski. He needs to improve his playmaking most of his assist come from rebounds from his deadly shot.

Jason Arnott

Heavy on the puck, a bit of a mean streak, scary hard wrist shot.

Not bad at all but I think McTavish has more skill.... I don't think Arnott could dream of puck skills like this... I think this is more of a generational thing though with kids growing up these days :laugh::laugh:

Jason Arnott wasn’t slouch either. He was a legit 1c once upon a time. If he played in the modern NHL versus the DPE people would hold him in similar regard to Schiefele, only Arnott played defense.

Oh I know, not dissing him at all it's a good comparison, he was a force.

I like the Pavelski comparison in terms of career wise. Think he could end up putting similar numbers.

Ultimately I think hes something around a 1B center (15-32 ranked center in the league)/elite 2C throughout his career that can play on both special teams with wing flexibility.

He compliments Zegras well, each others weaknesses are their strengths so it will be fun to watch them on the PP together and I'm sure at times on the same line. Wish the ducks didn't often play so late for EST times because I'd love to watch more of him and Zegras. (got them both in my keeper league and enjoy them as players).
