Eurolanche (been pretty accurate concerning European rumours for the Avs) say that Zacha is getting a lot of interest from the Colorado Avalanche ~ Zacha's Agent.

I hope that whoever drafts him gives him a chance to develop properly, without pigeon-holing him into a wing role right away, just because he has the physical tools to play there in some capacity probably even next year. I would like to see that he is given a chance to develop into a #1 center and let his puck-support qualities develop a bit more. Really hope someone doesn't fall in love with his physical tools and utilizes him in a limited "win-now" wing role that ignores his development.

But how do you do that?

He's going to be in the NHL (iMO).

Lots of future C's, break in on the wing, even the elite (Giroux).

Colorado and Philly (close to his range) will likely slot him in on the wing.

I could see San Jose giving him a role in the middle, because I think Hertl makes more sense on the Wing.

I agree with you that you want to see if you can develop him as a C, but I think if he's good enough to make your team on the wing you do that as well.

It's a balance between being a contributor and doing what is the best for his development. I'm just saying that I hope he doesn't get pigeon-holed into a specific slot in a win-now mode where the development context gets underplayed.

Hertl plays better at C.

As a Sharks fan, I certainly won't mind Zacha coming to San Jose.

Wow, no posts on him for almost 20 days, could very well be the #3 player in this years draft, if it weren't for his injuries I'm pretty confident he would be rated #3, someone will get the biggest steal, I strongly recommend that Arizona draft him instead of Strome, Hanifin or Marner, my favourite player in the draft not named McDavid, maybe even more than him.

He won't be #3... He'll be #6.

Quite amazing isnt it?

I mean you have guys like Bob Mackenzie say his poll had him like #6 and even Button (who really wasnt that high on him) put him #6 on his mock draft to NJ but absolutely nooone on this site is talking about the guy.

Zacha is a much more sure bet than Strome is in my opinion. No knock on Strome, I just think Zacha is the full package with the elite skating. Zacha going #3 shouldn't be such a shock to anyone if it happens.

^ Not to mention that Zacha maybe has an NHL body already and will physically do well, and is really the kind of centre that hasn't been a top pick in the draft in a awhile it seems, although he could play wing at the next level, even so would be very nice to have such a player, Strome still has a lot of filling out to do and does not play a power game, that's really the element Zacha brings that makes him stand out is the power, Crouse has it too, but I mean he's just not going to put up the same kind of points and can't skate like Zacha, for me he would be a bit overrated if he goes in the top 10.

I would like Arizona to take him because he would be in the West, however Arizona might not have a team for much longer, so it might not last, oh well, it's just that Arizona will be the only western team to pick before San Jose at 9, so it's quite likely he will be snapped up by an Eastern team.

Dude, come on.... You're obviously a Sarnia fan, but let's be a bit realistic here. Zacha is a better bet than Strome?

Been saying it all year. He stands out a lot more than Strome. He's way more physical and a better skater than Strome. If he puts it all together there's no doubt in my mind he will be the better player down the road. But hey, I'm comfortable with my viewings of them both and if Strome is the better player down the road then I'll have to live with these comments. Not saying I am 100% sure I will be right but if I had a pick with Zacha and Strome left on the board I would be taking Zacha. Don't let the stats fool you.

Excuse my ignorance, but I keep hearing about his elite combination of abilities and yet he was below a ppg in the O? He seems underwhelming (stats wise) compared to last years Nick Ritchie.

From what I've heard it boils down to inconsistent linemates and suspensions

And he was adjusting to NA hockey the first little bit too.

I think thats why hes considered a high risk pick though. Comes down to maybe what stats don't show currently.

Injuries, suspensions, adjusting to a new league/country, played on a fairly bad team with limited offensive help.

He only played in 37 games which is an extremely small sample size.

This is a reason good scouting teams look much further into a prospect than just statistics. You're projecting what these 17-18 year old kids will develop into 6-7 years from now.

Zacha's skillset is one of the best in the draft.
