Do you think they might call him up later in the year temporarily, just to see if he blends well with the Dallas system? Or will he stay with the AHL Team all year?

Must be eating him up that he hasn't been given a chance to play in Dallas.
I don't think so. This guy has faced adversity and question marks his whole career due to perceived size issues. He's a smart kid that understands the process and knows his time will come.

Once he does get called up though, I suspect he won't ride another AHL bus in his life.

I really hope they let him play the whole year in Texas and give him a cup of coffee with the big boys at the end or in playoffs.

When will him and Bourque get called up? I'd really love to talk to Dallas Star's scouts. They don't miss

Well they missed a whole lot from 2014-2018 (outside of 2017)

There must've been some kind of philsophy shift, and since then the drafting has been incredible.

2017 - Heiskanen, Oettinger, Robertson
2019 - Harley
2020 - Bourque
2021 - Johnston, Stankoven

This little stretch of drafting might end up giving us 7 core pieces, at least a few of whom are franchise caliber players. The franchise looked like 2020 might be the end of a contending window, but the youth we have has changed that outlook completely.

Antonio Stranges could be another hit for 2020.

I'd also argue it's been a successful draft from 2017-present. Ty dellandrea can still carve out a role from what was a weak draft class.

In 2015 you guys missed on Gurianov (got some use out of him though), but crushed it with Rope Hintz in the second round. One could argue they've been drafting well since 2015, but had only two bad years in 2016 and 2018

Bichsel looks promising too from 2022

Stars drafting is ridiculous. Best team in the NHL at grabbing impact players past the top 10. They swing for the fences, sometimes they miss but the record over the last 5 years speaks for itself.

Very jealous. This kid and Bourque are both going to be stars.

I'm not sure I see Bourque as a "star" as much as I see Stankoven as a star. Stankoven has always been on a better trajectory and is a year younger as well. As is Johnston, who will always be ahead of Bourque on the depth chart in Dallas. He's a special player.

I think Bourque is a 2nd liner, somewhat in the mould of a Nick Schmaltz. Can't complain about that considering where they picked Bourque.

The Stars have been swinging on potential + translate skillsets and have been excellent at it. Getting Hintz in round 2 in 2015 after flubbing Gurianov is pretty good even during a poor drafting time for them.

Not a shock to anyone here, but I'd thought I'd share my video I made on Logan here.

I would make a Bourque/Stankoven combo video, but the ties to home are tight to me.

Thanks for sharing, that was really well done and really helps to put into perspective just how incredible his early career has been thus far.
