Funny how much love Drai got after the Rimouski game where they gave him all the time and space he needed, and then nothing after Cassels and the Gens shut him down and frustrate him. Kid has a wee bit of an attitude problem if you ask me. Floated around all game against Oshawa and let the hacks bother him.

credibility lost...you know nothing of Leon, sorry to tell you

Gens shut down McDavid pretty effectively too if I recall...I guess he's got an attitude problem as well

That was a very poorly officiated game which favored Oshawa's player personnel. Up until the late penalty was called and Cassels clearly earned a delay of game it was a **** show for both sides where the refs put away the whistles. That ALWAYS favors the bigger and tougher team.

I heard Reinhart has an attitude problem too, worse than Kane's.

Draisaitl and an attitude problem what??? Does this have something to do with his nationality?

Lmao I knew the Edmonton boys would hop on that. Considering I've seen him quite a bit since he was sent down to Kelowna I think I know a little bit about LD. The attitude thing isn't just coming from one game against the Gens. It comes from watching him a lot. There's a lot of times when he floats and doesn't engage himself. Sometimes it's from extra attention and sometimes it's bad bounces. Last minute of the Gens game when Chartier I believe it was took the game tyer from Drai. Shows his emotions and completely shuts it down after that. Not like he was hustling before that but then it got worse. He reminds me of Vanek where when things are going his way he's dominant. Then there's times where he gets inside his own head and his play suffers. That what I meant by attitude problem. Probably the wrong way of wording it but that's how it's been since he was sent down.

It wasn't just about getting shut down. I said in my last point why I felt that way and admitted attitude problem may have been the wrong way of putting it. Extremely nice kid and a good player. Just watching him in Kelowna I've noticed a few things in his game, that's all. Still think he's a good player just needs to stay up beat rather than getting down when thigs don't go his way.

Agreed. But Drai could've engaged himself in a physical battle. He didn't, and I've seen it from him live, I know he is capable of it. But instead of engagin Oshawa he got frustrated early and his play suffered.

Okay....that has nothing to do with what I said. It's just you trying to start something because you can tell I'm a sabres fan. Nice try.

Not at all. Some of the players with the worst attitudes have been Canadian. I love how people just assume that Canadians only like Canadian players. It's the 21st century boys. All those stereotypes need to be thrown out the window. I see a hockey player as just that, a hockey player. If Drai was Canadian he'd be getting critiqued exactly the same.

Better way of putting it for sure. But it doesn't seem like normal junior player frustration. He really does remind me of Vanek in that when he's on he's on. But as soon as one little thing goes against him it can rattle him and affect his play.

Your original post made it sound like LD was whining and complaining about being shutdown and the slashes/hooks that were slowing him down.

Thanks for clarifying. Sounds like it isn't really an attitude problem as much as an inability or unwillingness to play against a tough-checking team.

He better get used to it because he will see a lot of that in the NHL.

I haven't watched him play at all in Kelowna, but I will say that a lot of NHL prospects who have outgrown the CHL are prone to taking shifts or even entire games off because they are bored and sometimes aren't motivated enough to give a full effort. As inexcusable as that is, many players outgrow that behavior as they mature and realize NHL coaches won't put up with that stuff.

Yeah definitely the wrong choice of words.

And it definitely isn't inability to play physical. Like I said I've seen him do it before. I get that the kids who outgrow the CHL can get complacent and lazy but I saw his first WHL game. He was moving his feet all game and was a physical force. I guess I expected that Drai to show up for the memorial cup. Not the one who decides when he wants to play.

for a guy who is "slow" (apparently) he sure gets a lot of breakaways

The guy is fast for sure. He is just such a weird skater. It looks like he is moving slowly but then he blows past defenders. It's the weirdest thing to see.

he has that Jagr-lite stride, powerful but its long and loping

Worth noting that last game vs Oshawa the Rockets were on back to backs and the Generals were rested. Different story on Sunday. I don't see the Generals being able to choke the life from the game as easily.

had one bad game in months, after, at times, carrying the kelowna offeoffensehrough the playoffs and now he has frustration issues.

Not just their offence either but all the D he plays and penalty killing he does
too.

He's a kid, they all have issues.

Actually it does... because it has as much factual basis as what you are saying... there is not a single person in all of hockey beside you who would suggest Draisaitl has an attitude problem... and so the obvious conclusion for a motive is the guy your team picked #2 has been handily outperformed by the guy picked #3... I mean unless there IS no reason... but then that is just you being a bad judge of talent

He has since said that it was maybe worded wrong, and that a frustration problem may be more accurate. It still might not be correct or supported by others but I think you should acknowledge what he said.

"Players get frustrated sometimes when they lose story at 11"

Little to no point in bringing it up... he or she just wants some way to knock Draisaitl... AKA the WHL Playoff MVP and probable Mem Cup MVP... yes his "frustration" issues have frustrated him all the way to the top of the leader board of the biggest junior tournament in the world... how terrible

The guy was just offering his opinion on how Draisaitl looked in that game, which was pretty reasonable. He didn't deal with the way Oshawa played him well. That's understandable as most players have trouble with them, but what he said is all pretty true as it pertains to that game. It's not like the poster's going around trying to cut Draisaitl down wherever he can.

I wouldn't say the Generals chock the life from the game...just the opposition. If I recall they doubled up Kelowna in shots.

Would anyone here prefer Draisaitl to Auston Matthews?

Mathews would have to really have to be very disappointing in his draft season for that. No knock on Draisaitl, Mathews simply looks closer to Eichel than Leon at the same stage of their respsective careers.
