A small interview he did with Sanny Lindström. Favorite player growing up was Crosby. Now he watches players who are like him. Doesn't give any examples but would be interesting to hear who he'd compare himself to.

Asked about the draft and where he thinks he's ranked he just says that he doesn't know, "the first round at least, then we'll see if I gets picked then." Humble, as usual.

Örebro's HC on what makes Leo special: the speed between thought, and action. When he watches video of past games he always sees 3-4 things that Leo does that only a few in the SHL can do.

Looks like he has caught a cold and probably won't play tomorrow.

How is there not more hype for this guy.

I do not think Bedard is good enough that he is no conversation #1 over him. And you have Michkov and Fantili after that too. 🤯

He didn't have the same name recognition prior to the year.. but anyone who's been paying attention knows this guy is firmly in the top 4 and can go anywhere in that range. He's that good.

If he keeps this pace of production, he will end up #2 or #3 in the next draft. The other guy fighting for the podium will be Fantilli. 99% sure Michkov will be available in the fourth spot if Carlsson and Fantilli continue to show this level.

yea it looks like a pretty solid top 4 at this point.
Bedard
Mitchkov
Fantilli
Carlsson

The latter 2 have made their way into the conversation this year. I’d still give the edge to the first 2 but the gap has closed

LC is majorly high end, but this is all Bedard. He is a legitimately special talent

Now I remember who he reminds me of:

Note - this is not meant to be a critique, merely a comparison of their skillsets & athleticism. Carlsson pretty clearly has the better awareness and processing, and is definitely more of a playmaker, but Kotkaniemi was extremely impressive during his draft year - watch those highlights. Both guys had great hands (Carlsson's are better better) with similar posture and agility "issues".

Obviously I think he'll be better than Kotkaniemi, but there are some pretty striking similarities.

It's funny because nowadays people will pretend like Kotkaniemi never showed any potential back then. Still say he looks better than Slaf draft+1.

He looks really good, right? Like, if he were a prospect eligible for this year's draft, people would be talking about him like a lock for the top 5.

I watched the game today. Felt like Örebro didn’t have the puck at all. Not sure if that’s usual for them but they were thoroughly outclassed.

Regardless of who drafts him, I think Carlsson would benefit from a year in the AHL a la Mikko Rantanen.

Some extended highlights

Something that bodes really well for him at the NHL level - he needs very little time/space to make plays. Stays perfectly calm and in control with defenders draped all over him, and has the hands, vision and timing to make great plays in these situations. That’s a crucial element to being a star forward at the NHL level, and Carlsson has it in spades.

Has fallen back down to earth.

pointless in his last 5 games.

And has been playing on the 4th line the last few matches.
Yeap. I watched one game with Örebro and he was playing third line wing and didn't get much done there even though he had like 15 minutes of time on ice.

Maybe U20 would be better for him if they dont wan't to play him on his best spot?

Whoever drafts Carlsson, I think that spending his draft+1 year in the AHL like Mikko Rantanen would be the best thing for him. The SHL is a hard league for teenagers to score in and I think the sooner Carlsson adapts to the NA playstyle, the better. I watched a couple of his SHL games recently and I feel strongly about this.

Honestly, I’m sold on Carlsson as a future star even if his stat line doesn’t end the season as strongly as it started.

I mean Örebro hasn’t scored more than two goals in a game since november 19th. I don’t think they are good enough without him performing.
