Ya I was bummed on the pick at the time but watching him in preseason my opinion definitely changed. He has a lot of malkin in his game and if he even becomes 80% of malkin I’ll be ecstatic

I supported the pick based on the available YouTube videos (and it was clear Fantilli didn't want to come to Anaheim) but I had no idea about the full extent of what Carlsson has to his game. Not even slightly surprised he made the team out of camp (injury notwithstanding) and struggling to contain my optimism about what he'll become. The kid is special, and he makes our young core even more fun to watch.

Yeah, I actually liked the pick for Anaheim, they already have so many offensive pieces to build around and this dude is the total package. Fantilli def is going to be a good player, but I'm not sold on elite or better than Carlsson, but I always had Carlsson above, I'm ready to eat crow if I'm proved wrong but I watched a ton of both of them pre-draft. I absolutely think the Forsberg comparisons are weird, but I think I do see some Malkin in him as some have said, but he also play's a good 2-way game. Excited to see what this player becomes.

I hate what Anaheim is building. Between Carlsson, Zegras, Terry, McTavish…that’s an insanely good forward group, with a good blend of size and skill. Ugh.

This is a great breakdown of Leo's game. I believe the Yotes iced pretty much their top roster in that game, albeit it was, of course, a preseason game.

I wonder if Leo's ready for the Thursday's game vs Dallas

I believe it was documented somewhere that he’s planning on playing next week, so perhaps the home opener v Dallas on Thursday.

From the horse's mouth:

He says his injury happened during one-on-one drills, where he in high speed either lost an edge or stepped on the D's stick.

He'll try and practice with the team before Thursday's game and hopefully be able to play.

Sounds like Dallas game is realistic but perhaps the next one vs Yotes would be a good opportunity for him to show himeslf. He was our best player in the last preseason game vs Yotes

Yeah I think this was the right pick for Anaheim. I'm just repeating what others here have said but he's that total package centre beyond his years- kind of like Barkov - and they probably needed that more than another slick skill first player (not that Carlsson isn't very skilled).

Looking forward to his debut!
