C Leo Carlsson (2023, 2nd, ANA)

Out of all these guys, Dahlin is the only stud here. Even Raymond had a very underwhelming year.

He is also the only guy taken in top 3.

Also, can you name the studs from 2020, 2021 and 2022 please?

Pettersson isn't a stud? If your team drafted Edvinsson and Raymond in the last couple of drafts, you wouldn't be thrilled? I would.

I would not be shocked if Carlsson ends up better than Fantilli. Fantilli has a lot of potential and for now I would pick him at #2 aswell, but he could be an early bloomer and we've seen similar prospects not live up to the hype.

Puljujarvi was big and very athletic for his size, Dubois going ahead of him was controversial at the time but ended up being the better pick.

It's too early to tell how Lafreneire and Byfield will develop but I reckon they won't be as good as Stutzle.

Agreed. Forget about Stutzle, they might not even end up as good as Lucas Raymond. For every late bloomer like Tage Thompson there's 25 kids who just never pan out or live up to expectations. You can usually tell early on which players truly have it or don't -- you see the flashes and it factor.

We don't know which player will end up a better NHLer between Fantilli and Carlsson but I think there's less risk in Carlsson's game. You can see he certainly has the it factor.

alot of the pre-draft hype right now involves Anaheim learneing not too repeat history (i.e., not taking an american after a generational player was taken ahead of them (Crosby/Bobby Ryan in 2005 vs. Bedard/Fantilly in 2023) ... expect ANAHEIM to draft C LEO CARLSSON (OREBRO) on Wednesday nite

Fantilli is Canadien...oops.

Piecing together everything with Pronman saying half the league thinks it’s Fantilli at 2 and the other half thinks it’s Carlsson at 2 + Kaplan saying that the people she’s talked to don’t think the Ducks take him, starting to feel like it truly is Carlsson at 2. Think they’d be making the right move taking him at 2, not looking forward to seeing this kid as many times as we will as a divisional rival.

Real deep sample size right there.......

There's also Marek saying he got a text about not being surprised if the Ducks go Michkov.

So... Look for them to pick Smith and fulfill @Satan's prophecy.

The question is how bad does Columbus really want Carlsson and are they willing to trade into the #2 slot to guarantee they get him?

Why would we waste assets when we're already guaranteed a franchise guy at 3?
You shouldn't unless your GM and scouts lean heavily towards Carlsson. That was how my question was phrased.

Ehh, we've heard that the Blue Jackets are comfortable taking whichever one of the 2 are available at 3 out of Fantilli/Carlsson - if Columbus was locked onto Carlsson I would've thought of this as a smokescreen but it's almost certainly not, we've had multiple insiders come out and question/doubt Fantilli going #2.

As a Ducks fan this is why I didn't mind if they picked 3rd. I prefer Carlsson and would bet on his game progressing more than Fantilli's.

But as a GM in that position I completely understand why most teams would go Fanitilli. Especially the Ducks.

My guess is next year Fantilli and Carlsson will play in the NHL and put up 30-40 points each while Will Smith will be a Hobey Baker finalist with Boston University and a bunch of people on here will prematurely crown him the 2nd best player of the draft.

As a fan of both teams, my hope is Fantilli to Anaheim and Carlsson to Columbus. They just feel like they fit better that way.

I want Carlsson + Michkov this draft between the Sharks and Habs. Don't care who gets which, but these are my #2 & #3 top prospects this draft.

If Ducks do go Fantilli I think this very well could be what ends up happening. And considering Babcock it would be for the better, for Carlsson.

Yep that's my hope.

Bedard #1
Fantilli #2
Smith #3
Carlsson #4/5
Michkov #5/4
