C Leo Carlsson (2023, 2nd, ANA)

That's incredibly high praise. Would you then agree he should go 1OA?

In 2017, 2020, 2021 and 2022? Definitely.
In 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019? An easy number 2.

Bedard is that good as a prospect. And I'm very torn about who should be #2 in the draft between Adam Fantilli and Carlsson. You're talking about two players whose floors are probably going to be 70+ point guys in their down years.

Assuming 80 points as a baseline, Fantilli is likely to provide a 40-40 statline while Carlsson will be closer to 25-55. Fantilli will impact games with speed, intensity, and physicality while Carlsson will slow the game down and be more cerebral. We'll see which player the Ducks prefer. Columbus will undoubtably take the other. I'm not buying the Smith to Columbus line.

I can see them being similarly effective in some contexts, but I'm more attracted to Carlsson's playstyle.

I think if you've got a relatively untalented squad you can stick Fantilli on there and he'll force a lot of turnovers and rip picks, and maybe be more effective right away. But he'll also make a lot of low percentage plays. It will be messy hockey for both teams.

Carlsson is more of a maestro or a conductor. He's better at developing possessions and making space for teammates to shine. And if you've got players who can shine then I would rather they were on Carlsson's wing than Fantilli's.

I really wish Detroit could move up somehow to grab him, if he were to drop to #4, maybe it's possible. Take Karlsson salary or something. I'm dreaming I know. Would be a great fit though.

Karlsson isn't a cap dump.

Carlsson just should be the easiest pick at 3 for Columbus.

He’s exaclty what they’ve been looking for from day 1

Is he better than Wright, Hischer, Hughes, Bernier, McTavish, Zegras coming out of their drafts

I personally would have taken Carlsson ahead of any of them. I suspect head to head in a draft with each of them that most people might still side with Hughes over Carlsson. But the rest Carlsson would be ahead.

Man its so crazy how there's a BIAS for NA leagues... its insane to say the least.

Carlsson is playing againts men, in the best possible league there is for a junior to play in.

How can anyone choose any one else than Carlsson at no2? Let alone 3,4.

I personally prefer Carlsson over Bedard

Here's a crazy take, Carlsson will be the next McDavid.

Probably has to do more with bias as I've learned NJ fans think their players and prospects are way better than they actually are.
It has nothing to do with bias, and everything to do with Hughes' incredibly dynamic skill set and record breaking U18s. And we've seen how well that's translated.

I would pick Carlsson 1st in 2017, 2020, 2021, and 2022. 2018 would be close with Dahlin, I might have taken Carlsson because I don't always loved drafting D so high.

Will start Worlds with one change to his line: Alex Nylander in place of Zetterlund. We'll see if Alex can keep up. So, Sweden's rolling a Raymond - Carlsson - A.Nylander top line.

Also: will become the youngest Swedish player to play at Worlds when he steps on the ice tomorrow. As far as IIHF events overall goes Dahlin was younger at the Olympics.

Needs only 1 point to tie a handful of players for the DY record amongst Swedes in IIHF events.

This sounds like the reverse, straight. bias for European players in European leagues. He's done nothing to suggest he will be better then Bedard or will even come close to being a player of Mcdavids level.

What do you mean done nothing?

Look at his game and look at Bedard's game or even Fantilli's.

Carlsson's game is translatable to the NHL and what ever he's doing now will help him get top production in the NHL

I'm looking at Carlsson's game and I don't see the skill level to suggest he will be McDavid level or better than Bedard.
