Healthy scratched yesterday. However I wouldn't say it's because of Leo's play, his linemates, & ice time have been less than ideal. Örebro lost the game 5-1.

Not only has he played solely on the 4th line since returning from the WJCs, he has done it on the wing, centered by Milton Oscarson. Still put up 3p in 5gp.

Örebro's HC:

Which is quite a dumb assessment when you play him with that ice time and put him on a line that won't utilize his best qualities(like his creativity). Or as Leo puts it himself, he has played more "brunkarhockey"(grinder hockey) since coming home.
He has produced very little at even strength. Definitely slowed down after that great start.

The more i look at Carlsson the more I think he's going to develop into a top generational talent. Still a bit raw but holy shmoks i see the potential. Who ever is getting him is not going to regret not getting the 1st OA

If you are a believer in guys like Carlsson and Sale (heck even Michkov) then you just gotta put up with the ups and downs of playing men’s hockey on teams that may not be the most well run. Ignore the noise of stats goobers whose opinions live and die by sorting the points column on EP.

Both Carlsson and Sale need to be immediately put on the “Rantanen plan” by whoever drafts them. Get them under team control, over to NA and just a full no non-sense AHL professional season of adapting and conditioning.

Lol I'd love it if we could stop all those posts but this site would die.

They need strength training, especially Sale, who is years away. Carlsson is already well on his way to being a hoss, he might be NHL ready by the Fall.

I think I am the only one that doesn't see that big a gap between the two. Carlsson in NHL 6 months from now and Sale is years away. I don't see it and am clearly out to lunch.

How has Carlsson looked recently? I know his point totals have slowed, but I would like to know if he has still remained dangerous. Any insight is great

Good first period for Leo so far. Johnny on the spot to score a 5v5 goal, good involvement, and some nice looks on the PP.

Every time I watch Carlsson I’m struck by how much adding stamina and lower body strength would help Carlsson’s game. I truly believe that if he puts the work in to develop his legs, he’ll be a monster. But right now, he’s not great at switching directions quickly without the puck (which I can personally attest is a leg strength issue), his feet are a little heavy, and he seems to be a little winded at times. I also strongly feel like switching to center would resolve most of his off-puck issues (he tends to look a little passive in the defensive zone defending the cycle; he’s strong positionally, but he’s not aggressive on the puck).

Edit: He even got better as the game went on. When Leo is moving his feet and keeping his stick active, he looks like a future star. Needs to be more consistent.

Two excellent defensive takeaways in 3v3 OT today, probably saved a goal on one of them, I really hope someone gifs that shift. Those types of plays are why I think he’ll translate at center.

This may seem a little backwards, but I love to see an 18 year old trying to dangle through everyone in a men’s league. He’s experimenting with what he can get away with; as he develops, he’ll know what he can do and what he can’t pull off and refine his play selection, but I’d absolutely rather see an 18 try and fail than to not try at all.

I'm not tellin he is next Forsberg, but if someone could be, its Carlsson. He definitely should work on his legs. I really like the player.

Another goal for Leo today (secondary assist for Elias Pettersson). He has really stepped up his game (and production) lately. Love it.

A lot of teams saying they want him, when in reality as long as he goes 3rd/4th overall, only the bottom 4 teams could get him. I doubt we see anyone trade down this year.

With the lottery only being the top-2, and Michkov's ranking all over the place, it seems Carlsson is what whoever loses the lottery gets.

Are you assuming it’s a foregone conclusion Fantilli goes 2nd? I could certainly see a team preferring Carlsson over Fantilli at 2nd overall.

There is the 2% remote possibility the team that is 13th in the lottery standings wins the lottery and goes from 13 to 3 but yeah, you are correct here. It's very, very likely Carlsson is a Duck, Blue Jacket, Blackhawk or Shark come draft night. It's kind of wild that several teams have much more of a chance to get Bedard or Fantilli via a lottery win than they do of landing Leo at 3 or 4.

The bottom 4 is very much up in the air. Chicago have 45 points, the Sharks 47, Yotes and Nucks hot on their tails with 49 each. Yotes and/or Nucks could easily end up bottom 4.

Vancouver would be a pretty great landing spot for Carlsson, a PP with Petey, Hughes and Carlsson would be lots of fun.

Canucks schedule is incredibly easy though. 11 of their 25 remaining games against bottom 10 teams, including a bunch against CHI, ANA and ARI. And I just find it hard to believe a team with their top end talent will sink to the level of those 4.
