There hasn’t been many more posts about him because there isn’t much more to say. He could go anywhere from 2-4 and that really hasn’t changed all year. I think he’s improved throughout the year but he’s had some inconsistency issues you’d expect in a young player at times.a bump
Is he really a top 3 pick in this draft?
This thread was created late 2021, less than 18 months ago
just 13 pages in that span., hasn't been a post in about a month.
- not much talk around here
Finished the regular season with 25 points in 45 games, is that good in the SHL?
He is signed through 2025. - will play in the SHL until 2025?, any reasons why he wouldn't?.
He is listed at 6 foot 3, around 200 lbs, center / winger
after reading all the posts, he has mostly played as a winger,
but few posters suggest he will be a center in the NHL?
- because of his size?
Late 2004 born, but December born is always a big +, so there's that
but does the fact that he is not 2005 born effect his draft position?.
What are his games downsides; the stuff he needs to work on?
Leo Carlsson will most likely play in the NHL next year depending on who drafts him. I wouldn’t say he’s the fastest player, but he he’s great with the puck and can utilize his size and puck handling ability to his advantage when it comes to puck possession and zone entry. He’s able to make high-end skill plays in tight and his shot is definitely adequate. He’s not a parameter player by any means either. He’s great in front of the net and has the handling ability in tight to tuck in quick rebounds. When you watch him, it’s really hard to believe he’s so young because he’s certainly an impact player on his team. He makes excellent plays in the offensive zone and really does have a phenomenal combination of high-end skill and vision. He is going to be a great player I think.
Carlsson is going to have to get stronger and fill into his frame but I anticipate his making great strides in strength and conditioning this summer. His skating isn’t bad but I think he’s going to need to improve his acceleration a bit.
If a team was to take Leo over Fantilli I would completely understand. I actually think Carlsson is more offensively dynamic but doesn’t necessarily have the same ceiling. He is sort of in the middle of Fantilli and Michkov in terms of Risk-Reward ratio of drafting him if that makes sense and the certainty of Adam Fantilli playing center is a huge factor in Fantilli being ranked ahead of Carlsson for me.
I’m not sure if Carlsson is a center because, frankly, I haven’t seen him play center. If he does end up playing center, it won’t be because of his size alone. He has the hockey sense, puck handling ability, and vision to be a center. But, he might not have the skating right now to be a first line center (which might ultimately make him a first line winger).
I’m sure Swedes in this forum who are able to watch his games more than me could provide a better breakdown. But, that’s what I’ve seen this year.
