When last season? And, what exactly makes you think that he makes a better winger?
I dont remember specific dates, but i do remember he was used as a center in some games. But mostly he played as winger.

Centers should be good defensively and backcheck hard, he is not really that type of player. He is more of a finesse player. Nothing wrong with that.

Do you think he could be a man already for WC in May?

That part of being a center is among the easiest to learn and mostly being a winger as a prospect doesnt mean much longterm if a team feels you have the tools to be a center. As a CBJ fan the exact thing is going to happen with Kent Johnson, a super skilled finesse player that has center tendancies. Positioning and faceoffs take time for those guys who dont play center all their lives but those are not at all impossible skills to learn

As far as the senior team goes he played 0 games at C, might be conflating it with somebody else.

I think enough has been said about his defensive play when he's playing at wing, and explosiveness(which the backchecking part really is about for me). That paragraph is more problems with how the SHL views centers, though.

As far as Worlds goes, he has one thing going against him: being Swedish. Four DY players have represented Sweden at a major men's tournament: Dahlin, Bäckström, & the Sedin's. Will be interesting to see what Hallam thinks. His inclusion of Bystedt in the Denmark games is fun, though.

This kid is such a beast.

This is going to sound really controversial, but I think the gap between Bedard and Carlsson is closer than the gap between Carlsson and Fantilli.

He's my runaway 2nd overall.
You forgot someone named Michkov. Unless removing politics and contracts truly going to claim Bedard - gap - Carlsson - bigger gap - Fantilli - gap - Michkov

Would be quite the hot take. If purely from a talent stand point then no way there is that sizeable of a gap between Michkov and anyone in this draft yet alone Carlsson <> Michkov

I didn't say anything about michkov. He's ahead of Fantilli for me.

Just like the LA Kings were very happy with Kopitar as their 1C.. a team is going to be VERY happy with Carlsson as their 1C.

I'd take him ahead of Fantilli, 0 questions asked.

I have Carlsson ahead but they should both be dominant two way 1Cs.

Fantilli is like Taylor Hall offensively but also a strong defensive center with a ton of energy and room to get very strong. 70-90 pts and a great matchup center.

Carlsson I see as a more cerebral yet still very energetic classic 1C type like Barkov, if anything with better tools than even Barkov. 100 pts and not missing anything.

Most teenagers in a men's league are, but long term you want this guy at center.

Fantilli seems the better bet to go to the wing in the NHL than Carlsson

I'm sure they're both centers.

Who cares what counts as a hot take.

Carlsson looks a lot better to me in the SHL than Michkov did in the KHL - other than the Kunlun game Michkov looks to me just trying to survive. And from there Carlsson should be much more translatable to the NHL at his size.

Forgot to add - Emerald City Hockey has a former scout that did an excellent report on Fantilli. The comp they used was Kopitar. I don't think that is a good comp, but funny that you mentioned him by way of contrast with Fantilli here.

Carlsson is definitely a more ready NHL prospect, and his overall game translates very well. Unlike Michkov, Carlsson has size, defensive awareness, physical attributes and other elements to his game, when he can't score, he can contribute in other ways to help his team.

I think your comparison with one prospect is trying to survive is pretty accurate. I'm not saying Carlsson has the offensive skills of Michkov, just that his overall game makes him the better NHL player and is not 1 dimensional. That isn't to say Michkov can't learn or adapt if he desired, but we will see.

Carlsson looks to be the safest pick outside of Bedard, even more so than Fantili who has more question marks.

Fantili and Carlsson are pretty amazing players for 2/3 and might be #1 in any normal year if not for Bedard.
