Went 3-1 on faceoffs, which people are no doubt curious about.

Sweden's HC Hallam talked highly of him both before, and after the game:

On his inclusion in the NT:
Partly we want to give Leo that journey into the summer, partly we'll get to know Leo. Player on that level, things happen very quickly. That he gets to come in and feel our system and get to know us a little here and get the opportunity to battle for it feels frickin' fun.

After his first practice:
Frickin' fun to have Leo be here. Now we've only had one practice, but you see directly that there's a very high level in his game.

On which player stood out, after the game:
I thought it was fun to see Leo Carlsson make his senior debut, he showed a lot of good things.

Leo after his debut:
It felt alright, my hands are a little rusty, but it was passable in any case

Which is something you noticed watching. Final Norway game tomorrow.

This is cool. Swedes, you will have some NHL players joining before the WCs, right? I'm thinking weather he'd still have that 3C role in the Worlds, for example...

In any case it’s good to see that Hallam isn’t selecting young skill-players just to use them as 4th line grinders. Though that PP was very suspicious.

If Aftonbladet is right (and they usually are) Pettersson, Dahlin, Raymond, Sandin and Berggren have all accepted invitations. It depends on how many more NHL players they think they can get. But if they don’t have that many going in I think they will keep him on the squad. I think he has a better shot at being the second line center in the worlds than DLR or Rasmussen has. I think Hallam is using them on the top lines right now, essentially to give them a chance.

any chance he goes 2nd over Fantilli
There is no way I would take Fantilli over Carlsson. This is probably controversial, But I think Carlsson is closer to Bedard than he is to Fantilli.

Carlsson feels like a surefire 1st line player, with the upside to become a top 5C in the league, in the same tier as guys like Matthews. His ceiling scenario probably about equal to Bedard's "expected" scenario. Meaning if things work out for him, there is a realistic chance he ends up better than Bedard IMO.

Yesss this is why i was asking i see everyone taking Fantilli at #2 but personally i think Carlsson will become the better player imo he will become an elite 1C crazy to think that a player like him might drop to #4 with Fantilli and Michkov on the board

Love Suzuki but hes not a 1C so crossing my fingers Habs can land him or obviously Bedard

Crazy good top-4 in this year draft. Any other comparables I can remember are:
2015 McDavid, Eichel, Strome, Marner
2008 Stamkos, Doughty, Bogosian, Pietrangelo
1997 Thornton, Marleau, Jokinen, Luongo

Easy to forget, but 2013's top four was ridiculously hyped as well.

In the end, MacKinnon and Barkov were worth it, Jones has had a disappointing trajectory but has been a fine player as well.

We don't talk about the outlier.

Been watching highlights of both Fantilli and Carlsson, both look great, with franchise player potential. Ducks aren’t winning the lottery but to land Carlsson or Fanitilli would be like winning the lottery in most other drafts.

The thing with Carlsson he is already playing against men in his league, that could make an easier transition to the NHL.

I’d actually start him in the AHL.

Let him dominate a level offensively before letting him make the jump to NHL

Yeah, Ducks are in no rush next season. All of our D prospects and F prospects who are making the AHL next year are going to marinate there. Will have a new coach and system for San Diego and Anaheim.

I'm with you to an extent. I would be very happy with either. I don't think there's a huge difference between the two as I think both have similar upsides, you're just getting a notably different style of player picking one over the other. I've been flip flopping on which I'd prefer practically on a daily basis but I think I'd lean more towards Carlsson gun to my head.

The thing is Carlsson is pretty physically capable of handling the NHL. What I worry about is his first step acceleration doesn't seem NHL ready as of right now and he's going to have to get used to having less time and space on smaller NA ice. So I don't think the transition will necessarily be any easier for him and if I was Anaheim I'd have him spend a year in the AHL (assuming he didn't opt to spend another year or two in the SHL).

Could not agree any more. No reason to rush any of these guys whoever we land, except Bedard who will play in the NHL next season.

I'm not going to put too much stock into what the pre-draft rankings have for this draft - I think it'll play out very similar to 2013 where no one had Barkov going 2nd overall but that's where he ended up going. Could see this year's draft playing out very similarly.
