I think this has been pointed out a couple times before but I wanted to highlight this again.
This is Eichel's freshman year in comparison to a number of top NHL forwards in their respective NCAA Freshman years
Dany Heatley: 38 Games 28G 28A 56PTs 1.47 PPG
Thomas Vanek: 45 Games 31G 31A 62Pts 1.38 PPG
Zach Parise: 39 Games 26G 35A 61 Pts 1.56 PPG
Kessel: 39 Games 18G 33A 51 Pts 1.31PPG
Jonathan Toews: 42 Games 22G 17 A 39 PTs 0.92 PPG
Eichel: 34 Games 20G 41 A 1.79 PPG
Not only has Eichel outscored all of these top level NHL player but witht he exception of Toews and Kessel, he's doign it before his first year of eligibility.
Kessel and Toews are the only ones who started their freshman years at 17 years of age and you can see the difference in production.
When I seen him, Eichel looks almost effortless on the ice. He doesn't seem to have a panic threshold. He'll be humming along listlessly and then all of a sudden send a perfect cross-crease pass to his teammates for an assist. He always seems to control the play when the puck is on his stick and he's one the most dangerous players shorthanded I've seen at that level.
