Only 9 pull ups?
It is deceiving to what regular people are used to because when normal people do pull ups they just bang out as many as they can as fast as they can. With the combine you have to start with arms completely relaxes, pull up and hold for 1 second and then go all the way down for another whole second and repeat. All these kids can do more than their combine stats say if they do every day standard pull ups
Only 9 pull ups?
Was expecting more after all the fanboys were boasting about how he could do 25 pull ups and close grip bench 250 lbs. Looks like when proper form is enforced he's not that much stronger than his peers, I mean even the midget Mitch Marner did almost as many bench press reps.
I would put that figure at closer to 35%. Eichel's play in the Worlds and now the combine can not be ignored.

The biggest achievement of Connor McDavid’s career might be making Jack Eichel look like a consolation prize. If the Massachusetts native were in any draft other than the Mc2015 version, we’d be talking about how long-suffering Buffalo fans were finally getting their savior. Eichel has an ease about him, the way the most natural of athletes — oh, what the heck, let’s use comparisons like Mario Lemieux and Guy Lafleur — do.
I have friends close to the BU hockey program and there are whispers Peter Chiarelli is going to shock people by selecting Jack #1 over McDavid.
Chia was seen at many BU games last season and he is known to be fond of NCAA players.
Only 9 pull ups?
Like BennettI would bet 75% of America can't do 3 crappy pull-ups. It requires being relatively strong, and not a fat-ass.
Less than that can do a single good one.
Eichel would be perfect for the Oilers. The big, right handed shot, power centre to go against the other Western power centers.
But no, they are not passing on McDavid. Too much buzz and hype to have the next great Canadian player coming to Edmonton.
I would put that figure at closer to 35%. Eichel's play in the Worlds and now the combine can not be ignored.
Eichel's OK-not-great 10 game performance against teams like Belarus, Switzerland, and Denmark really pushed him? Give me a break sabres fans. That's a joke

Could you be more out of touch?
Go back and watch those games. This kid is an 18 year old coming of an NCAA season pre-draft. I don't know if you could have put on a better performance than Jack did.
Man, I couldn't be more excited for a prospect. The season needs to start now.
This kid is going to be a monster.
Sheesh you can just sense the venom and hostility with this oneEichel's OK-not-great 10 game performance against teams like Belarus, Switzerland, and Denmark really pushed him? Give me a break sabres fans. That's a joke
Bennett couldn't do a pull-up and I guarantee he's the best forward, maybe best player from that draft. Ask any credible hockey source they'll tell you the combine's good for interviews and seeing that they're not in terrible shape.
Impressive that Eichel tested well but if you think it means that boosts his draft status, thats pretty laughable.
35%, 0%. You don't waste first overall on second best
yes, that's the reason. Not that McDavid is significantly better. It's because he's canadian and hyped
He will be an absolute monster. I will seriously enjoy watching him. Really will be the next huge thing in the east.
That said, 7P in 10GP at the WHC isn't something to call home about. 3 were against Belarus and Switzerland, the other 4P in 8GP were against mostly guys who play in 2nd/3rd tier leagues. It's not THAT impressive. You don't expect any more from an 18YO but not like he was lights out against NHLers, he wasn't. Few outside of sabres fans are finding it extremely impressive, but that seems obvious
"Significantly" better...WRONG.McDavid is slightly better, that's it.Guarantee you Eichel would have matched McDavid's production this year if he played in the OHL.
Eichel elevates players around him.
Last year Evan Rodrigues put up 14 points in 31 games for a .45 ppg.
Then Jack Eichel arrived and centered him.
All that happened was Rodrigues went from putting up 14 POINTS in 31 games to putting up 61 POINTS in 41 games.Jack Eichel literally made Rodrigues raise his PPG over a WHOLE POINT PER GAME.
I cannot stand the whole debate between the two.At this point I just want the draft over with and next season to start so they can figure it out on the ice who is/will be the best.
Yeah guys, 7 points in 10 games as an 18 year old going from playing in college to playing against nhl superstars like Evgeni Malkin isn't impressive.Much more impressive to play against 17 year olds in the Memorial Cup who 95% of them will never play in the NHL.You know, you would think that if you were so confident McDavid is "significantly" better that you wouldn't have to embarrass yourself grasping at straws.Again I'll say it, wait til they show it on the ice.I for one cannot wait.
