My bold prediction is that he gets a cup way before McDavid and is a better overall player then McDavid. I see him winning a cup in 3 years.
When the Sabres pick second overall in the June draft, Jack Eichel will likely be the guy. Murray loved what he saw in World Championships, “I thought he was great, he looked a little tired one game, but expectations aren't extremely high for me because I know how young he is and where he’s coming from, but any glimmer of above average play let alone spectacular play, I get excited about and he was exciting, he was above and beyond.” Murray said he’s had two calls asking if he’ll move the pick and he told them they could make an offer, but he’s not moving out. In drafting Eichel he said, “That’s the easiest decision I’ll probably have in my General Manager career.”
As far as moving up in the draft, Murray said he hasn’t called Peter Chiarelli and he’s not going to call him.

Anything is possible, but I think he got stuck with the wrong GM for that. A rookie GM with an attitude problem vs a guy who's won a cup already in a big market. One player can't carry a team all the way these days, not even a goalie,
An attitude problem. I see you're behind the times on your misinformation.

Speaking of Eichel, Murray said drafting him will be the easiest decision he ever had to make in the interview. He also said he will not trade up or down, locked in!

One player? See: Reinhart, Kane, Bogo, Risto, Zadorov, Ennis, etc

That's just guys taken in round 1. And it isn't even all of them. Remember...Pysyk is so good that leaving him in the ahl was proof of the tank lol. And that Girgensons guy...he looks not too shabby already. Grigorenko still has potential.
Then the depth of prospects to see who makes it. Fasching, Baptiste, bailey, McCabe, compher, more high picks this year...
But yeah one guy.
With all the depth on center and D, is it fair to say another 1st line winger is the biggest need?
They'll be a scary team in a few years if they end up with Svechnikov at 21, IMO.

I think they need a goalie.

Honestly I think playing the world championships was a good thing for him, I know its pointless saying this but it really helped his stock (I know I know he's already a shoe in to be picked #2) , it really was the best thing for him.
He is a born leader with a tremendous desire to succeed and leads by example. He has an uncanny ability to change the complexion of a game at a moment’s notice with or without the puck. Possesses a heavy, accurate shot with a quick release, and is adept at getting it through screens and clogged shooting lanes. Does not need backswing to generate velocity, and the deceptiveness of his off-wing wrist shot is reminiscent of Mark Messier. He is an excellent skater with breakaway speed and NHL-caliber leg drive. Eichel can also cover a lot of ground in little time. Tremendous playmaker with superior vision, Eichel finds the open man, even with his back turned while drawing two or three defenders towards him.
Yep. It's crazy to think that there's a prospect even better than him in Connor Mcdavid. Hockey is going to be crazy in the next decade with all these fine young players coming up through the ranks.
