I see a lot of Toews in Eichel. Obviously not identical players, but the way they are entering the zone and starting a cycle can be eerily similar.

Hmm.. I see Johansen/Getzlaf with a little Carter in there. Even though I'm really just covering my bases there.

Call me crazy, but what little of Sam Reinhart I've seen, I'd compare him to Toews.

He didn't even get a shot off? I don't get the praise on this play, The D played it well
You didn't see him blow right past him with one stride?

My favourite thing about Eichel is actually so dumb. His wrap around are sexy. He just pushes once on his edges and with his immense reach he tucks it in the corner. He almost scored one against Russia, the Germany goal was beautiful and he did it a couple times in college.

I admittedly haven't seen as much of Eichel as McDavid (easier for me to see Erie than BU) but I am surprised at how well Eichel does ALL the little things well... I think he is being undersold in some aspects, he is a very complete player.

I just finished watching/rewatching all three USA games so far and he's definitely done a great job at staying on the right side of his man, tying up sticks, locking his man up on the boards so someone else can win the puck, winning faceoffs, and, especially, covering for pinching defensemen. Lots of the same things I see and love out of Reinhart, but with more skill obviously. Lots of the same things I saw him get better and better at as his season at BU went on. You can see him gaining more trust and responsibility from Richards with each game. Hopefully he can get some more points in future games because he's done a good job generating chances, though you always hope for more chances from a talent like that.

That separation he created is just ridiculous. He did the same thing against Kovy too.

He migbt be the best skating prospect I've ever seen.

He had some sick plays today. Had one were he toe dragged the crap out of someone. Someone please post vines of some of his plays today

I'm not going to say Eichel will be picked #1, but this might get Chiarelli thinking about picking him #1. Eichel has been the best USA forward, and if the USA wins the tournament, he could be tournament MVP. This is against much older professionals.

All we've seen of McDavid is against players his own age. Eichel has now proven that he is an elite player against much older players. I'm not saying it'll change Chiarelli's mind, but it would be stupid to not at least consider Eichel #1 at this point.

He holds his stick so high, reminds me of Hossa.

Impressive that he has as much control as he does.

By necessity of his stick being so long. I'd be curious to see how his game would change positively and negatively if he were to play (comfortably) with a stick of normal length for his height. I would think he'd be able to deke better and set up certain shots and passes more fluidly, but he really maximizes the stick length+height+wingspan+strength combination he has to be elite at protecting the puck.

MPS did they same in the world championships when he was drafted. Eichel has been good in the WHC but only exceptional 1 game against Belarus. Not to take anything away from Eichel, hes amazing. But this tourny would have almost zero impact on Chias decision. Its McDavid all the way. What McDavid is doing in the CHL is record breaking and he is own his way to the best playoff performance ever. Over Crosby, Lindros, Gretzky, Lemieux (era adjusted)

As for comparisons, a better skating Getzlaf or Fedorov is a good one.
