Get a grip there Ranger fan.

:shakehead

How is anyone supposed to discuss Eichel without one of the McDavid fans trying to diminish everything he does?

What do you guys have against Eichel? I really don't understand it. He can't also be good? Do you feel threatened that someone might be just as good as the next Canadian hockey phenom?

MPS did they same in the world championships when he was drafted. Eichel has been good in the WHC but only exceptional 1 game against Belarus. Not to take anything away from Eichel, hes amazing. But this tourny would have almost zero impact on Chias decision. Its McDavid all the way. What McDavid is doing in the CHL is record breaking and he is own his way to the best playoff performance ever. Over Crosby, Lindros, Gretzky, Lemieux (era adjusted)

As for comparisons, a better skating Getzlaf or Fedorov is a good one.

You think dominating the CHL is more impressive than excelling in the World Championship's? I'd beg to differ.

Thats not to say that what McDavid is doing right now is bad. Its not. It really is incredible, but we already knew what both of them could do against players their own age. Eichel has now proven himself against much older professionals. If either of their stock's has risen recently, its definitely Eichel.

No Canadian has anything against Eichel, he is one of the best prospects since Crosby ( I have him above Tavares), but I dont think youll find anyone, scout/media/scouting agency that would take Eichel above mcdavid, or even consider it. One tourny and 3 games doesnt change much

Have you not read some recent comments in this forum? There are people arguing that Eichel is dumb and McDavid is a super-genius.

I don't know who is actually better, but I'm just saying that Eichel's stock has definitely risen more than McDavid's recently. McDavid's done what he's done all season. How can your stock rise from that? Eichel's proven himself against older professionals, something that should definitely raise his stock.

If there was a small, but clear gap between the two before this last week or two like many think, Eichel has probably made the gap even smaller.

So because no one happens to be moving their feet in that video but Jack I can't comment on how smooth and strong he looks on his skates?? Ok... :dunno:

You're right. I'm going to go and point out all the guys that aren't moving their feet in McDavid videos.

Seeya over in the McDavid thread!;)

I don't know if playing well against some pretty weak national teams in a pretty minor tournament means his stock has risen more than McDavids. Have you seen what McDavid is doing right now in the playoffs? Both of their stocks have risen but I don't know how much weight scouts would actually be giving to a few games in the WC. McDavid has turned up to an even higher level in the league where his game has already earned him the consensus #1 spot.

World Championship teams>Major junoir teams. But you're right. Both of their stocks are rising.

That's one person though

Mcdavid played at a 2.3 ppg pace in the regular season which was comparable to Crosby, but in playoffs where scoring is tighter he's ramped it up to a record breaking 2.8 while carrying his team to victories over top ranked teams. I think before this scouts had it as a moderate gap

Anyway this is eichel thread. So I'll just say almost every Canadian has him as a stud and wouldn't be suprised if he had better seasons than Mcdavid, or even same to better career

He is going to be dominant. I say 65-70 points next season

Pretty weak National Teams?

Finland has quite a bunch of NHL players on their roster, Russia's roster is all NHL and KHL players, including Malkin and Kovalchuk. I'm pretty sure almost all of Belarus' players play in the KHL. Norway's team isn't that good. I'll give you that.

The rest are NHL, KHL, Liiga players. That is absolutely a much higher level than McDavid faces in the OHL and Eichel faces in the NCAA.

Just finished watching him vs Belarus. He's simply on another level than the rest of team USA, even though he's only 18. Pretty incredible.

You clearly haven't been watching the CHL playoffs...

Who are the higher profiled forwards on team USA right now? I have little doubt that Eichel is NHL ready and I have felt that for some time. Also what are his stats in the tournament?

Higher profile forwards? hahahaha. Trevor Lewis? Nick Bonino? About as high profile as you're going to get. He has 3 points 3 tournament games (excluding ehxibition). Today's game was by far his best.

Thanks, so no real 1st line talent to compare him to or for him to play off of I suppose.

Yea US is pretty shallow up front. Honestly, I think Larkin has been our best forward after Eichel.

Nelson, Bonini, Lewis are the best NHL forwards we have.

That said, Eichel has looked good compare to NHL stars like Malkin and Kovalchuk.

Brock Nelson, Nick Bonino, Anders Lee and Trevor Lewis are probably the marquee NHLers up front. Then you have KHL star Moses and a couple college studs in Eichel and Vesey.

It may not be Canada's forwards but they've been pretty food and have gelled very well.

I think you are a bit overestimating what Eichel is doing at this WCH. He had 3 assists in 4 games right now in an age of 18 years and 6 months. Stamkos, when he was 19 years old and 3 months, was one of the best players at the 2009 WCH and tied-best goalscorer. MacKinnon had 10 points in 7 playoff games in similar age as Eichel right now.

Eichel is impressive, but I don't know how this WCH change opinions about Eichel. He's great, he's playing on high level with mature players, he's one of the best prospects in hockey since Crosby entered the league. Still, WCH is a tournament when Trevor Lewis may be best offensive player in one of the best teams there.

Methinks you are reading stat lines and not watching the games. Eichel has been visibly dominant at times, and has gotten better as the games have gone on.
