Eichel isn't schooling anyone. His talent is obvious, he's got a beautiful skating stride and quick hands, a good frame too. He makes a nice play here and there and the coaching staff is giving him a plenty of opportunities. I can understand that American and Sabres fanbases get excited about him but let's not be silly. This tournament is a very good experience for him.

Thats where I'm at, This is his first time playing against pros and while I never expected him to light the joint up, it is a great head start to ge tan idea of what he has to work on in the off-season. Something that most prospects in the 2015 will not have.

I have had to bring out a notebook to watch him, so I think schooling has been used correctly

His strength along the boards has impressed me the most so far. He's Soo strong. He's easily USA's best forward IMO.

Speed too. In the first period against Russia he turned a 50-50 foot race with a defender into a full on breakaway. Kessel played in his draft eligible year, and I can tell you that Eichel is twice the player already.

Some perspective:

Eichel's been the best forward for a USA team with multiple 40 point scorers this season in the NHL. He's absolutely NHL ready, and will probably put up at least 50-60 points next season in the NHL.

There hasn't been much doubt in my mind that he's ready from his first few BU games on. Not that he doesn't have a lot to work on to become what his talent says he can become, but he's ready to bring effective play to the league. He has NHL strength and can play a man's game around the boards already. There will definitely be ups and downs with figuring out when to try to take over and when not to, as well as some issues with getting lax in his end, but the points should be there.

From what I've seen of the WC so far he isn't blowing anyone away but he not only obviously belongs, he's quite easily been, as you say, USA's best forward. He's not exactly playing with the best talent [edit: earlier on anyhow], nor do I think it's all clicked for him yet as far as the timing and play at this level. He still seems to be feeling things out a bit.

He's been pretty good. Winning faceoffs. Got an assist. Got a nice opportunity. I'd like to see him bear down a little bit. He's almost too casual. He's just scratching the surface.

But it's just the WHC. Who cares, right? It's not the Memorial Cup or anything.

Haha no disrespect, but he definitely started playing better after my post

in his third game at the world championships jack eichel opened up at center ice. Across the red line, stood evgeni malkin. In a game chock full of nhl players, eichel showed the world what makes him such a special player, and that he's absolutely nhl-ready.

I find myself wondering what percentage of buffalo sabres fans have had a chance to see jack eichel play. As we sifted through the mess of this season, many found their way to the world juniors or a boston terriers game to try to see if eichel could live up to the hype. Somewhere along the way it occurred to me that the large majority of sabres fans still haven't seen him play. That's exciting to me.

It's like giving your friends the full dvd set of "the wire" or "dexter", and feeling happiness that they're about to embark on this entertainment journey. I think sabres fans haven't even begun to feel the eichel-hype yet.

His game against russia, was his best of the tournament, and a start-to-finish indicator of a player set to become an nhl star.

eichel's first steps are incredibly explosive. His mix of power and speed is what sets him apart from almost every prospect. Early in the first period he showed yevgeni medvedev that elite speed.

Mentioning Dexter in the same breath as The Wire is a huge foul in my book. I guess if you tell your friend to stop watching Dexter after season 3 it would be almost acceptable.

someone please post a gif of him blowing right by Panarin on the delayed penalty. I don;t know how to embed vines.

And thats against the best defenseman playing outside of the NHL.

Though I'm guessing his partner isn't the 2nd best defenseman outside the NHL.

Eichel has a great stride, I like the Fedorov comparison made earlier.

You're admitting that an Amerian player was good? That's something I thought I'd never hear

Baby steps.

I like many American players like Kesler (minus his diving, though he sort of stopped), Parise, Cullen, Byfuglien, Dubinsky, Callahan. Don't have a problem with that.

Buffalo is getting a fine player. I'm really looking forward to seeing what he can do next year and beyond. I think that he has been underrated by a number of people at HF due to the fact that he's played in the NCAA.
