It's not just Sabres fans. Many hockey analysts have called Eichel the 2nd best prospect since Crosby, after only McDavid.

Even if he is, it`s extremely close between him, Tavares, and MacKinnon.

Crosby
McDavid

Eichel
Tavares
MacKinnon

Stamkos
Hall
RNH
Kane
Yakupov
Johnson

Eichel is close to generational. He's a rare athlete but not quite up to the level of McDavid/Crosby. 9.0 B or 9.5 C both would have been sufficient scores.

Tavares is just as close to generational as Eichel ever will be.......

I've seen McDavid do things live at the speed in which he does it that I've never seen another hockey player do in my existence. I've watched Eichel live a few times as well and McDavid is definitely the better prospect. I view him as better than Crosby, but we shall see how his game translates to the NHL level. I view Eichel on the level of a Malkin level prospect, a step above Johnny T due to skating ability.

Pretty incredible praise:

“They’ll both be Hall of Fame guys,” said Dennis MacInnis, director of scouting for International Scouting Services. “McDavid is just a little bit ahead, just for the special things he does at full speed. He plays the game at such a high pace. Eichel plays the game at a high pace, but he can also slow the game down and let the play come to him.”

This is another great article showing just how amazing McDavids and Eichels seasons were.

Eichel finished the season with 1.77 PPG as a rookie in NCAA and McDavid I believe 2.56 PPG in OHL.

I was fortunate to be old enough to watch Wayne Gretzky's entire career. Mc David can anticipate what the opposing players are going to do and knows where his team mates are. This is the first prospect where I have seen those kinds of anticipation since Gretzky and to some extent Mario Lemiuex. However, he does not have the reach nor the outstanding shot Mario had and he is nowhere near as smart as Gretzky.

But who knows. We will see.

Eichel reminds me a lot of Ryan Getzlaf but he might put up even more points than the Ducks captain.

I'd be happy with 45-50 points. There's so many options for Bylsma for the top-9 that's it's really hard to predict his linemates. I just hope Jack can earn Bylsma's trust early on and get 18-22 minutes a night.

I would be amazed if he didnt get this.

Some (or many) Sabres fans legitimately believe that Eichel is a step above Tavares as a prospect.....

No joke.

....Eichel will be the better player than Tavares

No joke.

Kinda seems like your the only one who thinks otherwise, which kinda makes your post funny.

I watch videos on these two on a regular basis as they were just so much better than anyone else around them. Agree with the Getzlaf comparison, just more explosive and maybe a bit less use of his body around corners.

They are very close, I would give Eichel the slight nod, but that one is a coin flip scenario. So not a huge difference and I am not a Sabres fan, so if you're upset by it being a massive difference I understand. If you think he doesn't belong in the same breath as Tavares you're just as out to lunch in my opinion.

Look at the poster right above me, he said I may be the only person who thinks Tavares will be the better player, thats insane.

The two are very close, I am shocked by how overrated Eichel has gotten, to the point where I am called crazy for saying Tavares will be better than him.....

Well we all have opinions, so time will tell.

Like this one will be popular, in my opinion Jack Eichel will go down as the best player drafted this year when the 2015 draft class calls it a career.

Caveat being you had to draft McDavid 1st overall and he is the better prospect right now, I just think Eichel will have the better career in the NHL. I think he retires as the greatest born American player of all-time with multiple Hart Trophies.

Well we know Oiler fans and Islander fans will be voting for Tavares so we already know the obvious exaggerated post isn't true.

I'd vote for Eichel... don't know why I wouldn't. Johnny T might have hockey sense on him, offensive creativity, but Eichel's shot, drive, speed, and physical play more than make up for it IMO.

PS: Oilers fans are far more likely to be biased against Tavares (Hall as a contemporary, who up to this year was scoring at a higher rate, age for age), than they would be biased against Eichel. Again, IMO.
