How is this guy not getting more love in the rankings?
It's not like he is 5'9, obviously he's very thin, but I think it's fair to look at that as a good thing at this stage.
Probably because of the league he's playing in. I think the SHL and SuperElit get a lot more scouting than Allsvenskan.

Would it be more beneficial for him to be playing in SuperElit? At least in the Allsvenskan he's up against men. I would have thought that would help his draft stock
Some people love him, but he didn't wow people at the U-18's, which will hurt in certain rankings. Button due to his job can only really scout NA guys in person and relies on video and IIHF events. I would assume the same is true for Pronman. It will be interesting to see where he ends up on the first CSB euro list and Bob McKenzie's next list. How is this guy not getting more love in the rankings?

He was fine, but he didn't really wow people there. I'd also say he should be compared against the other 17 year olds at the tournament. But as for more impressive 2017's there, I'd say Tolvanen, Yamamoto, and Mittelstadt were more impressive off the top of my head. But he did a very good wjc 18. How many draft eligable 2017 players was better than him there? he outshine many high drafted 2016 players. I do not understand how anyone can hold his wjc 18 preformance against him.
Three reasons why I think he isn't ranked higher:
1. Lanky frame. Will he be able to fill out? GM's for the worst teams are likely gone before Pettersson is ready, could take 3 years or more.
2. Foot speed. His first steps are not quick enough. I personally think he's shown improvement here and more overall strength could make a huge difference.
3. I think people who have watched him a lot likes him more than people with limited viewings. You need to watch Pettersson a lot to appreciate what an awfully smart player he is. He won't wow you every shift.

I'd say from a scouting perspective, that he didn't wow there like some others. Someone like Button tends to weight international events fairly heavily, and while I don't remember watching him at the 2015 Hlinka, I know he was held pointless. I don't think its being held against him, but I don't think it significantly raised his stock.
Since Petterrsson is from Sundsvall and has come up with Timra, does he even have the ability to play for an SHL team? Not sure how affiliations/contractual obligations work for Swedes

He can go wherever he wants when his contract is done.
He's also from Ã…nge which is about 100km west of Sundsvall, semantics really but still
I see, his EP page has him from Sundsvall, shouldn't have trusted them anyway. How long is his contract for?
I was more curious if Swedish teams have long-term affiliations with players (as we see in European football academies -> parent clubs), or if it is more of a free market system. That's where the prior question came from
I often have a hard time grasping the relegation and promotion concept of Euro sports.

No points today...but what a player. Starting to think he could be the 1st Swedish player picked in the draft, and thats no slight on Liljegren.

Yeah, definitely the bolded part which is something i thought about. If he were able to play the way he's playing right now with a filled out body, he'd be in the conversation for top5.
