this is goldVery disappointing pace since the WJ's. Wouldn't be surprised to see him drop down to Edmonton's pick in the 2-5 range.

2+3 thus far tonight in a 7-1 beating of Peterborough
And sadly people will look at putting up 5 points on a terrible team as a greater accomplishment than when he "only" scores 2 points against much better teams.2+3 thus far tonight in a 7-1 beating of Peterborough

You're obviously not following. McDavid has been putting up 1-2 points on some of the best teams in the O and people are trying to act like he's struggling. He puts up 5 on one of the worst teams and those same people will act like he's back. He never went anywhere teams just stacked up at the deadline. That's ludicrous. People need to realize that Crosby also scores most of his points against weaker teams and is below his career PPg against the better teams.
OK so what's the truth?
I asked about his lack of production and Finnished, Tycho, and Brandonholmes all indicated that he's not trying all that hard or he's become bored.
I then raised this lack of effort/boredom as a potential issue, and now TanksPavs and SAK11 claim he's been playing hard and was just over performing earlier in the season.
So is a 2.8 PPG player who is just bored/ disinterested? Or is he more like the 2.1 PPG player he has been since the WJCs?
Must be nice to be DeBrincat. Might even get drafted.
I'm not questioning his dominance, I'm asking about his competitiveness really. In comparison to Sid, he never got bored winning, where as the comments in this thread makes it sounds like McDavid has. That would be far more concerning than his drop in productivity.
Not familiar with the concept of sample sizes, eh? 17 games is nothing when you're just looking at points. The drop could be due to a bad schedule, bad luck, his injury, coaching, or any number of factors. You might want to wait until the end of the season and then see where he's at buddy.
I'm a mathematician. A 25% drop in production with 15 degrees of freedom is bordering on significant
So am I, and the fact you consider games to be independent shows to me that you're probably some undergraduate who maybe took a stats class or two.
Any chance he ends up first in scoring?
I could see him having a 6 or 7 point game before the season is over.
Taking the scoring title while missing 20 games would be pretty amazing.
Whiskeyyourthedevils has been boosting Eichel and doing all he can to crap on McDavid, so I wouldn't take anything he says too seriously.
Don't know about the Eichel stuff but this poster is far from anything close to a McDavid detractor.
Maybe because he asks objective questions or makes objective comments.
If people are going to focus on PPG and make comparisons to Crosby, you are bound to get differing perspectives.
On topic, while he is making a case for the best draft eligible prospect since Crosby does anyone worry his skills won't translate as well? He seems to thrive with time and space which will be a lot less in the NHL than in junior.
