I don't follow the OHL. How many times has 2.5 PPG been done in the last ten to fifteen years?

It's extremely rare. Patrick Kane did it with 145 points in 58 games. Schremp was the other I could think of, that's it for the last 15 years that I can remember.

Yeah, but he dropped off obscenely in his draft year which is also probably the reason you never heard anything about him after that.

His point totals only got better after his draft year. 74 points in 63 games in his draft year, 90 in 62 the next year and then 145 in 57 in his last year. He was then a point per game player as a 21 year old in the AHL. Had quite a bit of hype in Edmonton for a while, heard plenty about him.

Asked a guy who was on his team last year how he was as a person, and he absolutely raved about McDavid's character and maturity. This guy definitely blew away the Canadian officials when he was allowed to play in the OHL as a 15-year old.

What I find is that the best players are the ones who have a strong sense of responsibility in their positions and a respect for everyone around them as a result, and everything McDavid has done is indicative that he's following in the footsteps of guys like Crosby and Tavares in that respect. If there was any doubt in my mind that he'll be one of the best players in the NHL, it's long been washed away.

Very good to hear. I cannot wait to see him in the NHL along with Eichel.

Also this may be kind of a dumb question but do you guys see the NHL trying to market a Mcdavid vs Eichel rivalry at all?

If Toronto wins the lottery then that's the easiest way to market it. Toronto-Buffalo and by extension McDavid-Eichel. They'll see each other multiple times during the year as divisional rivals.

McJesus's highlights from tonight were absolutely ludicrous. Like jaw-dropping. Talent just oozes from him. The skating + hands combo is unreal. He's already pretty strong as well. If he's got more weight to gain, lucky Tim Murray will have a monster on his hands.

Truth. Even in his short stint in Toronto, he might have been the mostly skilled player I've ever watched. It was truly remarkable watching him while healthy.

Just throwin' that out there. The guy missed the entire season before the lockout. Post-lockout he was better than ever, then suffered another devastating blow in the playoffs that knocked him out until the final 2 games of the next season. After that he dealt with a ton of general nagging injuries for the rest of his career. He was always gonna be an imperfect player (came into the league too soon for one thing) but his skill level was incredibly high. I really wish we got to see what he would have been if not for the huge amount of injuries.

Two things come to mind when watching this. First, Holy cow I forgot how good Connolly was. Skill was ridiculous and his back hand was deadly in tight. Second, I wish our current #19 had half the skill of Connolly.

If you ever want to burn 10 minutes look up the highlights from 2005-06, first year after the lockout, specifically the first round against the Flyers. Connolly might have been the best offensive player in the league for a month stretch from the end of the regular season thru his first 8 playoff games. He straight up embarrassed the Flyers.

If they're in the same conference, or meet in the playoffs, then 100%. Not only do you have two franchise forwards 1&2 in the same draft year, but there's a bit of a Canada vs. US angle to play as well.
