Rangers have lost 13 out of their last 17 games. What would you do if you were Dolan (the owner of the team) or Drury (the GM)?

They shouldn’t have extended Shesterkin . All it will do is get them crappier draft picks and not allow them to finish low enough to draft a game changing player / get a top 5 pick . He is good enough to carry the team to mediocrity instead of bottoming out. I know from experience with C. Schneider being elite . Should have went full tank mode but instead Schneider prevented that from happening .

He played really well at the start of the season, then he got paid. Since then, he’s been struggling but the whole team has.
They were like a game away from the finals or something like that last year. Got off to a good start. I’m shocked at what’s happened over there. It’s like overnight everything collapsed.

Well they aren’t getting better. They are dumping all their players for peanuts.

Okay, I'm just a casual Rangers' follower, but I like the team / franchise and generally watch how they're doing.

I saw the highlight of the Jersey - NYR game yesteday / today (I'm in Japan, sorry) and the goal that gobsmacked me was the 2nd Jersey goal by Meier. Not because of anything special about the goal, scored on the PP, but because of Vincent Trochek's atrocious defensive effort.

In this clip, focus on #16 of NYR:

Now, in fairness, he was probably tired and it's a PK situation... But still, what is he even doing? He lollygags around the central area at half-speed, almost takes one stride towads the danger guy receiving the pass, does nothing to impede that player or his pass across for the score. He's literally just standing around watching the puck go in.

This kind of effort and 12 shots on goal pretty much tell the tale of a club that has given up.

But... why? It's weird.

I'd probably try to get Cozens out of Buffalo and see if Cozens and Lafreniere can rekindle some magic, form a top line with Panarin. Seems like Gabe Perreault would have to go the other way though. Move Zibanejad to the wing, since you can't trade him.

Not sure where that leaves the Rags, but it would be using some of that Cap space.

Trade everyone over 30 for some picks and trust that those draft picks + good FA signings will get you back in a few years.

The fact that they were so good last season and early this season, suggests that this is completely mental and lack of effort based. The talent is there but Lavi seems to have lost the room and it feels like the players wouldn't mind seeing him or Drury get fired. So either that, or get rid of most of the main pieces and move back into rebuild/retool.

Don La Greca on his Game Misconduct podcast always mentions the point that every player on the 90's Devils hated Lou.

Every player on the current Rangers roster might hate Drury. The difference is that I truly believe Lou garnered a lot of respect. Drury hasn't.

I highly doubt this, the Devils who knew Lou always speak highly of him in regards of respecting players and their contracts including 2 of the guys that currently work for the team in Dano/Salvador. Lou did do a ton of shady shit with guys like Peluso with the concussion stuff but that was hockey GM's as a whole but still bad, of course. Lou's loyalty to his players is actually something people fault him for, he'd never do what Drury has to the Rangers.

Don would know because has relationships with many of those players. He and Dano are very close friends. Dano has probably shared things with Don that he'd never share publicly.

I'm sure players have ton of respect for Lou NOW, and now they all might all have great relationships with Lou.
