The stats suggest that he did better without them. You're right about something that's irrelevant.

LOL. You just can't concede that there were some good/quality players on that team. Why?

Anyway, this has obviously gotten silly so I am moving on.

I did concede that Palffy and Recchi helped Crosby along while they were around. Right there in my post.

However, you're painting a misleading picture of what happened during his season just by looking at the roster, and doing so smugly to boot. Can you admit that?

"It all depends on the team. Crosby had some terrific parts."

McDavid won't need those terrific parts. Just some decent guys who fit on his line. Much like Crosby.

I'd say there probably weren't too many quality players considering they only won 22 games. Most of the big names on that team were washed up or had poor seasons.

Of course. He was awesome. I just said he had some quality parts to work with and was taken to the woodshed by some posters. Turns out I was right.
You're getting way too defensive here. You implied that Crosby did well because he was on a team with "Mario and terrific parts", when Mario barely played, and that Pens team in general just sucked. They had some big names, but finished bottom 2 in the league the two seasons before Crosby joined, bottom 2 again in Crosby's rookie year, and were a poor offensive team in all 3 of those seasons. 18 year old Crosby was the best player on the 05/06 Pens by a pretty wide margin, and drove the offence.

Nobody is attacking you personally, your statements just didn't ring true for those who watched that team. I personally think Crosby would have scored a tonne on any weak team that year, what would have limited his scoring more would be if he was drafted to a really strong team where he had to play a smaller role, but that rarely happens with 1st overall picks.

I'll just leave these Crosby rookie highlights here:

He was an incredible offensive force from day 1, watching Crosby and Ovie tear the league up as 18/20 year old rookies that year is something I'll never forget. Both were forces of nature, not products of their teammates.

That's exactly what nbwingsfan likely believes though. After all, the "on pace for" argument is weak.

You're right, thats exactly where I think he ends up, right around 12-130 points. We'll see who's right at the end of the year.

Yup, nailed it. Crosby hasn't been the same since his concussion, I'd say it's quite likely McDavid ends up being better than current Sid. The current Sid wouldn't put up 168 points in his 2nd year of junior since those are 2 different players. For the record, anyone that thinks Sid wouldn't keep up his 2010-11 pace is wrong. Sid was simply flying then, and he was a different hockey player than he is today.

So you're saying its quite likely that McDavid ends up as the best player in the NHL?

Am I reading this right? Are the Otters really 10-0-1? I thought they were going to struggle after losing Brown, Fox & all their older players? Is this a fluke or is this team for real and if they are for real, who do they have?

11-0-0-1 now.

They are for real. McDavid+Strome playing great, some young guys fitting in really well, returning vets stepping up into bigger roles.

McDavid 1G + 3A tonight 34 points in 12 games.

Just what our Division needs...another offensive superstar!

Crisby, Malkin, Giroux, Tavares, Ovie....then RJ coming on strong.

I'd put Backstrom in that club too.

Seems like most of the top offensive players in the league play in the East, but MacK and Seguin are starting to change that.

Getzlaf, Kane, Thornton, Kopitar, Hall, Duchene, and Perry are in the west too. Not sure I'd put MacKinnon ahead of any if those guys yet.

This is getting silly. Almost 3ppg through 12. This is just unreal. I thought he would be Tavares level, maybe Stamkos level. He's starting to look more and more like he's apporaching that next level.

He will probably end up in Florida. Damn.
