really happy that it is 5-6 weeks! I take that as he will be playing in the WJC
 
The stage is now set for "Connor McDavid returns from injury, scores game winning goal in Canada vs USA, Gold Medal Gamel"

Lol in all seriousness, Drew Miller of the Red Wings had the same injury returned exactly in 4 weeks. He'll be fine for the World Juniors, and he'll be in form unlike Stamkos preparing for Sochi because it is his hand.

not like a broken leg, he can be skating im sure while this is healing, just not much with stick and or pucks at all, in the early going at least
 
Ahh, damn. I was hoping it wouldn't be longer than a month, he's out for a while. Just gotta hope his progress goes as expected and he's back for the World Juniors.
 
Cautiously optimistic he'll be there on Boxing Day.

To put it in perspective, Canadian Evaluation camp begins in 4 weeks. World Juniors 6 and a half weeks. If all goes according to plan or better, he'll be there. He probably won't be at full capacity, so an asterisk will be put next to a potential McDavid vs Eichel showdown. We'll all have to wait till Bufallo plays Columbus next year.

Nuge, Drouin, Hodgson to name a few players with injuries before World Juniors. Canada has brutal luck.

Add Ryan Murray to that list as well... Terrible luck as those names are as big as they come
 
You never know with these things, he can heal way earlier or it could even be longer since the fourth and fifth metacarpal bones take longer then the other ones.

But for positive news, a lot of cases for these types of injuries come back earlier it seems.

Rajan Rondo of the Celtics in the NBA had a surgical fixation of a left fifth metacarpal fracture at the end of september and was supposedly sidelined for 6 to 8 weeks.

He came back in 4. So let's hope McJesus heals just as quick.

I've had the same "boxer's" fracture as McDavid twice.

This is not a serious injury and it's the best case scenario for him for sure.

The casting for this fracture does not completely immobilize the hand and therefore the arm muscles don't atrophy all that much.

For both of my breaks, when the cast came off, I was right back into action that very same week at nearly 100%.
