his specialist appn't started a little while ago (Erie's coach confirmed on TSN radio)

We have to keep in mind this is a 17 year old kid. And, most of us at 17 were quick to drop the gloves. Why would he be any different? Having said all that, it was stupid and unfortunate and I hope things turn out well. However, the longer the appointment takes, the worse the news is likely to be.

Worst case scenario...

He misses the WJR's and he drops in the draft. There are worse things in life.

Word.

Lord knows when I was his age I had a much clearer head. And by clear, I mean starting fights with guys much bigger and stronger than me because I didn't like the way they looked at me after a whistle.

Give the kid a break (ha pun). He is just that after all. A kid. It's pretty hard to go through life as a hockey player without getting into scraps. Hell, even Phil Kessel and Mats Sundin had a couple. Pretty sure Gretzky did as well. And who can forget Pavel Lady Byng Datsyuk against Perry? Hockey players fight. It's our thing and if you say you never came close on the ice, I call shenanigans.

And for those wondering, no, I never won those fights. Though I did run into one of my opponents who got ejected in the hotel elevator after the game. Super nice guy.

The first would be unfortunate. The 2nd? I don't see him dropping if all he misses is 2 months. Let's hope he gets another crack to go head to head with Jack at the Senior WHC in the spring.

He won't drop.

I'm sorry but there is no way he goes at any other spot other than #1.

Hope you're both right.

We have to figured he gets provoked, non stop, all season. It probably got to him and he thought, "I am going to fight someone big and tough to show I won't be pushed around and then others will realize I am not to be messed with" - the old cell block mentality.

It was a mistake.

I agree. Contrary to the U.S. posters, I don't think Eichel is as close to McDavid as they hope/pray so I doubt teams will pass on the kid.

This can be made into a Hollywood film after he returns and leads Canada to an emotional victory at the World Juniors. Interstellar...the Connor McDavid Journey directed by Chris Nolan.

Bought tickets two days ago to go see the Otters...... Specifically McDavid... for this weekend... hahahahahah

Cianfrone is 5'8, 175 pounds soaking wet. He isn't our tough guy and is the Steelheads leading scorer.

Hmmm.

Fair enough. I had no idea who he fought. I was just commenting on his likely thought process.

Can I assume you meant the Ice Dogs? I go as often as I can and tried to get tickets for Friday night's game. There were only singles left and I would not be able to sit with my lady-friend so I passed.

Don't worry, I bought tickets just behind the OHL bench for the Subway Series in Peterborough tomorrow night. Also got my tickets for the Otters against the Bulls coming up in 3 weeks or so. I think the most I might see of McDavid is him sitting in the press box in a cast...much like last year when the Otters were in Belleville and he was injured.
