The way people are talking about McDavid is crazy. People seem to have this possessive thing with him, like he needs to play how we want him to and that hes "ours". If other players have the right to fight then so does Connor. Was it stupid? Yeah, but hes 17 years old FFS and I'm sure he realizes that now. Had he not broken his hand, I'm sure people would be going off on how hes was just a "tough Canadian kid". Accidents happen, and yes this could've be avoided but cut him some slack. I'm sure he doesn't want to miss time just as much as we don't want him missing it.

How was the fight? Semin-like? It's hard to criticize the "decision" to fight as this stuff is usually heat of the moment. McDavid shouldn't be fighting because he's more valuable on the ice and there are lesser lights for this kind of stuff-but I'm sure it helped his "cred" a bit. Hopefully he returns quickly-at least in time for the WJC. I don't want to see the U.S. victory sullied...... :p:

Now this is a fight I like. Pissed top players dropping the gloves is real, all these staged fights between meatheads however.......there are other sports for that.

With or without McDavid Canada can still win

Canada's problems at this tournament have been the result of the mix of players they've brought and their style of play vs the speed/style of other teams. Obviously a player like McDavid would help - but if they lose it's not going to because of his absence.

All the guy's criticising McDavid's decision to drop the gloves, despite knowing what happened to his teammate, must have never played competitive sports before.

Have you? Clean hits are a part of the game.

If he's able to be goaded into a fight after a clean hit, it's going to be super easy to get under his skin when he gets to the NHL.

Funny twitterverse..On a day humanity takes another step with robot probe Philae making a historic landing on a comet, Connor McDavid is still trending with more tweets in Canada lol.

QFT..

On a semi-related note.. I haven't watched this kid play at all, and it's a shame since I'm only 2 hours away from Erie, but I wonder if he deals with the same kind of punishment Crosby took and continues to take. I know you need to have really thick skin, and will need it even more once he starts dealing with NHL caliber agitators.

I was just thinking about taking a trip to Erie with my 7 year old son to watch Connor play as my boy loves hockey and would be a cheap hockey game to go to, unlike the $400 night it is to go to a Pens game.

So anyone know what's going on with him? Only thing I can find is he's going to a specialist.

And we probably won't know anything more after he sees the specialist. However:

Erie Otters GM Sherry Bassin is scheduled to Hockey Central @ Noon today to talk about Connor McDavid’s injury.

How is it hard to criticize? I've had tons of dickheads try to fight me over the years and successfully avoided every altercation that didn't begin with a sucker punch. "Man, that guy is mad right now" isn't a justification for lack of self control.

This is why we have enforcers. Period. Stop watering down the game, and give everyone a clear-cut role, either as a fighter or a point-getter. That's all there is to it.

Dear hockey, this is what happens when you try to flush out enforcers and get fighting out of the game. The star players get targeted more and left to fight for themselves. You will probably see more injuries from no enforcers than you will with them policing. Enforcers and fighting need to stay, or teach the stars how to fight... Which won't work. No team wants their star sitting for 5 mins.

Damien Cox is sure pretty excited about all of this. His current column on Sportsnet is pretty scathing.

It actually is true. A fracture can take more time to heal (sometimes) than a clean break. It really depends on the fracture though. It depends how well it heals. For some people, a slight or hairline fracture could be a month and for someone else it could be a week.

The education system. Blame them if my info is wrong ;)

This sentence confuses me.

Anyways a small fracture that requires surgery, well of course that would take a long time to heal. Ignoring fractures requiring surgery (and more large fractures require surgery than small ones) the large fracture will obviously take longer to heal than a small one because there is more bone to heal.

A "clean break" is a type of fracture.

Is your point that a fracture that damages surrounding tissue can be more serious than one that doesn't?

I meant varying degrees of fractures. Fracture being divided up in increments of severity while clean break is a separate thing altogether to me. I'm no doctor. I have very limited knowledge based on what I learned in the education system. You'd probably know 10x more than me on this. (I was basically just taught a "crack" or fracture takes longer to heal than a break)
