I think that going PPG as a first overall talent would be really good pace for his age.

Tavares went 1.18 and McDavid 1.04 in a similar level league. Bedard if he is around ppg while being more physically underdeveloped than those other two would be a good accomplishment. Keep in mind though that Bedard is not going to play too many games in Sweden . He should be back in North America by December to prepare for his WHL season if they indeed start in January.

Well, Bedard has been put in the best possible situation to score in these games. Don't really think he deserves that ice time to be honest, he's got a lot of things to improve (obviously). Still clearly a very, very good player for his age. Top 05 born Swedish players would look completely out of place I think.

He's playing in J18 today, centering Alexander Suzdalev and Egor Polin. That's going to be fun.

Thanks very much for the input :) If you can keep us updated on how his game goes today it would be much appreciated. If you’re able to watch that is.

How did he play?

From those clips his skating looks awesome.

What I really liked it the movement (or deception) rather than the straightened speed and that's more important in the future.
Yeah, I thought so as well. I’ve never seen him play a full game live though so I can only rely on clips. I did hear that he has trained with Barzal I believe so he might be influenced by him.

Update: Acording to this TSN Article he did skate with Barzal Connor Bedard on training in Sweden, call from Gretzky and exceptional status - TSN.ca

Do you have a favourite player or players to watch right now?

"My favourite player has always been [Sidney] Crosby growing up and now new guys [Auston] Matthews and [Mathew] Barzal. Matthews with his shot, you know, the way he can shoot the puck is so crazy. And I got to skate with Barzal this summer so I think I'm a bit biased there."

What's it like when you're on the ice with Barzal?

"It's pretty cool. I get to see how good he is, how nice of a skater he is and that stuff. And being able to talk to him, he’s such a nice guy and he gives me lots of good tips."

With the postponement of J20 Nationell and J18 leagues in Sweden , will Bedard be playing anywhere else or will he just go home to wait for the start of the WHL season in January?

He went back home following the postponent.

It's too bad his time in Sweden ended prematurely. Would love to hear from Bedard a comparison of training methods , skill level etc between J20 in Sweden and the WHL once he begins to play there. It's not often you can get a North American players perspective who's played in both leagues
