Honest opinion - I don't know if it's my age, my dislike for TSN over hyping these kids, or being more familiar with the OHL and then the QMJHL growing up. But I never doubted Lindros or Crosby. Admittedly Mcdavid took a little longer for me to warm up to. Bedard is the first 'generational' prospect I am not completely sold on just yet. It might be hangover from recent disappointments. I hope I am wrong, and Bedard blows it out of the water. But Location and destination are everything for this poor kid.

What's amazing about Bedard is that he's on track to become the greatest BC-born NHLer since Burnaby Joe. Way too long since BC has had someone this good.

I dunno, it’s pretty rare for ANY province to have someone this good. And Sakic is top-20 all-time in points, so not surprising it has taken a minute to have someone else like him.

I've seen it plenty of times now but sometimes I'm still surprised by the velocity of it, it's like a bullet coming out of a gun and he can do it sneaky in close to the goalie, you don't even see it sometimes. Just don't expect it all all from a kid his size.

I think his size and "lack of elite explosive skating" gives him a sleeper quality and I think that will even translate to the NHL level.

Just like many posters in this thread have alluded that his skating, size and playmaking abilities might not be in the top 2 or 3 players from the last 30 years yet he still keeps on producing and fooling some with his sleeper approach.

The kid has had an NHL shot since the age of 15 and he is getting better at it too.

Fair points.

That's why my Canucks will be happy to give him the hometown treatment to accelerate his NHL career next year......please don't wake me up....

The Bedard point streak is in very serious danger tonight. Regina leads 3-2 even with no Bedard points. 6 minutes left.

Edit: Looks like it's over.

The sadder thing was the goal streak coming to an end. Held to only 3 shots - first time that had happened since mid November. Gotta stay out of the box if you want any shot at keeping this guy off the board.

Crazy stat - Bedard has just as many games with 10+ shots as he does with <4 shots.

Aside from trying to feed Bedard the puck as much as possible it's difficult to point out one good thing this Regina team does.
One of the greatest tragedies of our time was not being able to see what he could have done with an even half decent hockey team around him

That wasn't his finest moment, on the ice tired trying to do too much.

He should work on his one timer too to round out his awesome shooting ability and get him some not so hard worked for gimme goals like O.V

He's a very good skater but it doesn't really stand out as elite on it's own, or from a purely mechanical pov.

It's the way he attacks and the pace he plays with combined with the stickhandling, deception, and then the passing/shooting.

Someone mentioned Marner, I see a little bit of that with the crossovers and headfakes he uses. I think he might be a little faster and more quick twitch though.

I think he will play with the pace and attack defenders off the rush like a Brayden Point does.
I find it interesting that Bedard only finished top 5 in one of the on-ice testing drills they did at the top prospect game.

I think Marner finished #2 overall in those drills to McDavid in his draft year.

That is weird, but i also don't put any stock into it either
