C Connor Bedard - Regina Pats, WHL (2023 Draft) Part 4

Kid is near 2 points-per-game and I'd say he's been unlucky in terms of collecting points, based off the chances he creates.

The tank battles for him will be entertaining.
Another year where his playmaking ability will be underrated he's basically forced to shoot

Is there anything close to a consensus on how high a ceiling Bedard may possess? Using comparable former first overalls, if possible. Like is he supposed to be like between a Stamkos and a McDavid for instance as a likely first overall?

Personally some probably won’t agree as we can’t all think the same way but just with his style of play i have a hard time comparing his ceiling to McDavid, not the same type of player. I could see him score 60 goals like Matthews, though.

Playing devil’s advocate:

1. Is he big enough to make an impact right away.
2. Most of his goals are shooting from the high slot in zone entries. Will NHL Ds close the gap and take away the high slot from him?
Yeah... I don't see his skillset translating as easily to the NHL. Players like McDavid and Matthews show up and the league needs to adapt to them, Bedard looks like a guy who will need to adapt to the league. Waltzing into the high alot at 5"9 with average speed isn't going to cut it.

more of a Sidney McStamkinnon type
Brayden Kanetthews for me

Average speed certainly isn’t a way to describe Bedard

Bedard jinxed the Canucks when he said they would win the cup this season.

Now they have no wins and 2 loss in OT to start the season. It's early but he must happy, his favorite team could be in a good position to draft him

Couple first year draft eligible WHLers on the same offensive pace as Bedard...hmmm

I assume you mean Cristall?

1. Bedard is still a younger player, likely having more physical development to come.
2. Bedard doesn't have any other high-end WHL linemates; he's single-handedly dragging up the Pats
3. Based on his shot and chance generation, Bedard is unlucky to not have more points, if anything.

Koehn Ziemmer too.

Both Bedard and Howe got 10 minute misconduct penalties at the end of the game. Can anyone who watched elaborate?

WHL officiating is notoriously awful, I'm guessing they said something to the officials at the conclusion of the game.

Just watched it. Pats iced the puck and both Bedard and Howe gave the Everett defenceman a shove after the whistle. Brought a crowd together, no punches thrown, just guys grabbing each other. Referee just decided to toss them.
