So far Bedard has showed nothing in his junior career that Michkov wouldn't have matched. That is not to say that he is not an outstanding prospect, they both are, but indeed Bedard has not separated himself from his closest peer. If anything he was lagging behind until recently.

The only thing he was "lagging behind" in was stats.

Anyone who watched him play could still see the skillset and scoring opportunities he was creating.

They are close but Bedard is almost a full year younger. If Michkov is the best non North American prospect since Ovi and Bedard is matching him but doing it a year earlier - it’s pretty crazy.

Seven months. Normal age difference for two prospects of the same draft class, we are not talking about toddlers here.

7 months and a birth year younger - which is how hockey players are broken up and compared in every conceivable way other than the arbitrary draft cut off date.

I would think most of those are from a time when the WHL was more free wheeling than it is now.
I mean, a year later, Goodall was a 10th round pick and never got close to the NHL. Scored a lot in the German lower leagues though

The 80s were a wild time in the West! Ray Ferraro had 108 goals one year and Rob Brown had 212 points. Even Cliff Ronning had 197 Pts one year.
