C Connor Bedard (2023, 1st, CHI) Part 6

Remember a few games into their rookie seasons some people on here were wondering if the Oilers had made a mistake drafting McDavid over Eichel?

The shots being stopped now were goals in the WHL last season. That situation is temporary. I have zero doubt Bedard will figure it out soon enough.

It's obvious he is going through an adjustment period he will figure it not a matter of if but when, he has to get used to the pace and physicality of the NHL and its a huge difference but he looks to be handling it well along with the enormous pressure put on him

Bedard shows promise… and showed glimpses of brillance… but let‘s be frank… he reminds me of a young Jack Hughes… meaning he needs time to adjust.

He had a great junior career but I guess people overhyped him…

Yes but, I think he ends up having a much better rookie season than him though.

How are you so angry over something that has NO impact on your life? With that kind of internal anger, "like literally, how do you live with yourself"?

Oh plz I’m just passionately debating sports it’s what we all do here ur being ridiculous and overreacting to the banter.

Bedard needs to be sent down to the AHL
No need to send him down to the AHL, he already plays with an AHL team around him:)

But no joking aside if he’s not in perfect positions on breakouts and regroups as you saw in the Colorado game he’s not getting the puck, it will take adaptation but that’s where I find the easiest improvement to his game can occur

The problem is he doesn't have the speed like McDavid to separate and his whole thing is holding onto the puck and dangling but he hasn't really been able to do that because he's facing men who are more skilled, faster, stronger and give him no space. Like you said, it's going to take him time to adjust those junior habits.

He’s already got 20 individual scoring chances created at 5v5 and according to you what he’s doing/likes to do isn’t working and he hasn’t been able to do much with the puck. Something doesn’t add up.

His first "real season" in junior (not counting the covid bubble nonsense season), he struggled in the first 10-15 games playing against good teams and trying to figure out what he could get away with and what he couldn't. I don't think it's much different right now. He's figuring out how much time and space he has and what that allows him to do at this level. I think you'll see his game taken to another level and see him really take off productivity wise.

Anyone that says he needs to go down to the AHL is just talking non sense. There's nothing good that will come out him playing in league's he's going to dominate in. He's getting plenty of ice time and opportunities in Chicago and that's what he needs.

Bedard has played a game or two more than the rest of the league, but that's still a good amount of chances off the rush, especially 5 games into his pro career.

Just like with his scoring chances being near league lead, this is another sign that he's doing the right things and just hasn't been rewarded for them yet.

I think today’s game will be really interesting. Home opener. Will that help his play? Unfortunately, the home opener just so happens to be against the unbeaten defending Stanley cup champs LOL

Nice to see the kid score. Well done, Connor.

And some clowns still think the beta McJester is superior. He's pacing FAR better. What a fall from grace for the clown, going to be behind Hughes, Kravtsov & Bedard as soon as next year.

Hyundai getting on the Connor band wagon.

Is his sister a twin?

A lot of trolls are constantly bashing him saying he belongs back in juniors, when he's outplaying McDavid at the same stage and it's not even remotely close.
McJester?

**

I was someone who wanted to see him in the AHL - knowing that is not possible. I hope I am wrong.
