Had some shaky moments. But hey, no pressure. Only the kids first game in Montreal under all those Stanley Cup banners. Parents in the stands. Guys like Serge Savard and Bob Gainey looking on. I think he was trying too hard to score for those reasons.

Plus, his team is pretty crappy. He made some mistakes. But also showed flashes of why he's considered generational. Habs actually played him very well tonight. And he definitely needs to work hard on his faceoffs. He's going to be what everyone expects him to be, I have no doubt.

This kid is so good play Goes through him when he is on the ice.

This is why the average fan should not evaluate players, they rely too much on the results and what the stat sheet says. He has been getting the opportunities he just hasn’t been able to finish them yet. In time, he will finish on more opportunities and the same people who are critising him are going to be praising him because of what the stat sheet says.

3 game point streak to start of your NHL career is Damn good. And Bedard is going to be damn good.

See you're coming in here with emotion, taking this personally.

Im coming in here being impartial, judging the player like i would judge any other player.

Some of you don't want to have a discussion, you're just here to be rude and offended.

Enjoy ur self
Why are you telling us to enjoy ourselves? Does this mean you are finally leaving this thread???

Wait....don't tell me. Seriously, don't tell me.

I’ve been pleasantly surprised by Bedard’s first 3 games. He is a notoriously slow starter and when he is out of sync, even at the WHL level, he can be frustrating to watch. I think he’s been doing a good job of playing within himself and taking what’s given. If this is going to be his level while he figures the NHL out, he’s going to have a big year.

How did he play?
Against Pittsburgh I think he was the best player on his team, against Boston the best player on the ice either side; it was more difficult tonight. Has more difficulty with exits and entries. Most of his chances were peripheral. Didn’t have a big defensive impact in breaking up transition like the first two game. Was bad at the dot. All that being said, still got a point tonight and cold have had more if Raddysh and Perry would have finished a few chances he created on the first period power plays

All part of the learning curve for young phenoms. By game 15 he'll be settled in and getting his apples. As I predicted, he doesn't have the supporting cast to generate the kind of lofty offensive stats some were expecting. 60-70 pts will be phenomenal for the phenom.

Yep, so far he's third in the league in shots and shot attempts, and first in both categories at 5v5. If we consider more advanced stats, he's leading the league in individual 5v5 expected goals, and is 3rd in the per 60 version of the stat (and the two guys ahead of him have logged just 5 and 7 minutes). He's created a ton of offense in his first three games, and he's not going to stay shooting 7% given his shooting prowess.

As for his defense, it didn't look good to me (although I've only seen the MTL game), but he's also leading the Blackhawks in expected goal percentage so he's hardly getting caved in 5v5.

This pretty much says it all. Just let the kid cook.

This, he’s been making a tonne happen with the puck. People who are expecting a Crosby/McDavid type game, where he flies around the ice winning puck battles, are going to be disappointed, but there are many different ways to be elite. He’s more similar to guys like Kane or Kucherov - extremely skilled, elusive and smart with the puck, a guy who creates scoring chances out of nothing constantly, but without the more classic hockey grinder elements to his game.

I'm not sure why he describes his game as Kaprizov then -- Kaprizov is very much in the Crosby/McDavid type of mold. Just kidding, but I agree with you. Different ways to be good.

Looking forward to a big game from him tonight in T.O. I doubt he'll get the boobirds from the corporate crowd tonight. But should be a fun night.
