Congrats from your 1st career goal Connor.

Other than that, still not impressed of his game, nothing special yet,
sure he is only 18 years old and played just 2 games.

Would want to see him score a goal with an actual shot on goal thou,

Nothing away from his 1st NHL goal but, everyone who knows about
hockey, more than just basics, knows the wraparound goal is,.. how would i put it,
the least of goals, its a goal where its 100% always on goalie
and its the worst goal goalie can give and is the most hated
goal by goalies to give, even more what five-hole.

Its always on you, you've made an huge positional error
by either overplaying, or poor read of the play,
because that's the only way wraparound goal can go in;
via goalie mistake.

We call that goal here in Finland as "vanhanaikanen"
which means, very embarrassing.

About his shot :

His shot is the the most unique and strangest i have ever seen,
its even more bizarre what Podkolzin's shot.

Its just starts so super low, with a super strange movement back of him..
dead give away for the goalies though, pretty easy for goalies (pro goalies)
to read his shot and his time of shot.

---

My Game #2 grade : C+

Outside of his goal, nothing much mentioning about,
- my highlight, what i remember best of his game
were his awkward first career penalty,
(tried to hit a player, but missed and his leg tripps
his opponent) and his poor pass from a 2 on 1 breakaway,
where his pass was too weak and poorly timed to
Korchinski, his shot failed because of that, it was
a knuckleball puck and difficult to handle.

His skating is his best business, he skates really well
and can carry the puck really well while skating, though
like happened several times, he lost the puck too easily,
due to his size (i think he is smaller what Marchand even, after one shift in the 1st
Marchand was trying his antics on Bedard, they were very close to each other,
Marchard was a tad taller) and having an 18 year old body to go with it,
or made a bad choice, in one he made a deke and tried a quick shot
but before he was able to make that shot, he was pick pocketed
by a Bruins player. - he does get lots of pucks to the net, that's a good thing

He didn't get hit as much he did what in game #1, but he did
got knocked down still relatively a lot.

His passing i think wasn't as good what in game #2 and his face-offs
are still an issue, although he was much better in game #2 what in
game #1, winning just 8 face-offs through 2 games, while getting
tons of minutes, is no bueno. They have limited his face-offs in both games though.

----

Talking about his ice-time, holy moly Hawks use him a lot!,
his ice time is even higher what CMD's was in his rookie season,
he has gotten about 22 minutes per game, for a forward that's crazy,
18 year old rookie?, nuts.. too much if you ask me.

11 shots on goal, more than twice shot attempts,
through 2 games is a lot.

I like his effort a lot, like i said previously, but still very young
and obviously not a ready pro player, much to learn and getting better
pro player to do, the skill is obvious, he didn't score those goals and points
from out of nothing as a junior, but time will tell what kind of pro career Mr. Bedard will have.

You could see his killer instinct in the wraparound. He dispatched everything lightning fast.

His shot is amazing, unique and a killer. I expect many players using his shooting techniqu. It’s revolutionary.

He plays in Chicago. No one cares about defense.

I looked faster in the NHL than I thought he would be. He’s the best of the best in terms of stickhandling.

- he does get lots of pucks to the net, that's a good thing

it’s ridiculous how many shots he gets to the net. Mind-blowing even

He didn't get hit as much he did what in game #1, but he did
got knocked down still relatively a lot.

He’s not strong.

His passing is excellent. Besides Defense, the other thing Chicago doesn’t give a shit about this season, is winning face offs.

He can handle the time on the ice. It will help him get a bunch of second assists, by virtue of playing Center in so many Offensive zone face offs. He’ll amass big point totals.

11 shots on goal, more than twice shot attempts,
through 2 games is a lot.

It’s unheard of. He’s at the right time at the right place. It’s the reason Shane Wright can’t score in the pros, he averages 1 shot/game.

Remember how Jack Hughes looked in his rookie year?

Yeah, I'm not worried.

And this is coming from someone who was royally choked Chicago got him (seriously so predictable) and would love any reason to pile on. But nah, he'll be fine. He definitely looks raw in his first couple games - not like a Crosby - but he'll figure it out.

I am not getting on the same horse that PK Subban was on by saying he was already a top 10 player in the NHL while watching him in exhibition games, but I will say this, I watched much of his first two games and it is clear he is already easily the Hawks best player and a casual fan could easily pick him out on the ice. He's 18, not big at all, and yet he is already noticeably giving defenses a handful.

I won't be shocked if he flirts with 100 points all year. You can already see he's a rare talent. That shot is already elite NHL level. I can even remember at the WJC last year noticing his shot, and how they bounced off of the goalies so quickly. Even the wrist shots. I have just never seen pucks bounce off a goalie like that. He's going to be a gem, it is exciting to watch. And I think it is safe to say he's already at the Crosby/McDavid level...............at the same age of course. He's the real deal. I'd actually be surprised if he isn't a top 10 player by the end of the season.

He is always dangerous. Even though he looks physically outmatched, he is so smart and his positioning is so good, the physical elements don't matter much. Combine that with elite puck skills and yeah, I could see him flirt with 100 points in an 82 game season. Top 10 player? Probably not. Top 20 player? Maybe. Best player on his team? Definitely.

Can they chisel his name onto the Calder trophy already? Is that a safe enough bet? I am thinking that it is minus a boatload of missed games.

I'm not so certain because his team is pretty bad and there are older rookies on some teams with firepower. Cooley and Fantilli are both capable of taking down Bedard if their power-plays pop-off. Also like you mentioned, injury is a big risk as well.

I think skating is the area of his game that is most underrated. He's not a burner in flat-out speed but his ability to change seamlessly between forward/lateral/backward movement is tremendous. He does that constant crossover in his forward skating that makes it hard to get a bead on where he's going next. Skating is one of his real strengths.

He's not the player they were advertising simple.

Benson on the other hand is pure fire... plays on both ends. NHL scouts are clowns

I’m sorry, but you’re insane. He has 3 points in his first 3 games and is clearly still adjusting. He’s also shown flashes of excellence in those games. But yeah, the scouts are clowns. I think it’s quite clear who the clown is in this thread…

He's been productive but not effective so far in his NHL career. He's come as people should've expected, he's still 18.

I hope Hall isn't out too long because the Hawks really need to put some players around him to help him develop.

He’s the best player on our team full of nobodies. Gets cleaned out on the draw and played a bad 2nd period today. Needs to hit the net a bit more and quit trying to be so fine.

Regardless he’s been as advertised. Anyone saying otherwise isn’t watching.

Honest question, you think he's generational? You think he's on the same level with Crosby?

because thats what is being advertised

Well, I wasn't a fan of his play on that SHG. Missing the shot is whatever, but the goal was directly caused by him being lazy about getting back. He had more than enough time.

Generally, there are plays that you forgive pretty easily for a rookie player, but a lack of effort like this isn't a very good thing.

Not much, it seems…

See you're coming in here with emotion, taking this personally.

Im coming in here being impartial, judging the player like i would judge any other player.

Some of you don't want to have a discussion, you're just here to be rude and offended.

Enjoy ur self
