C Connor Bedard (2023, 1st, CHI) Part 6

No im with you man, he needs a year at least of development.
They're rushing him half baked
Yup. Another half year to grow and put some meat on his bones - and play at the World Juniors! If he gets hurt, they'll wish they'd given him more time. Chicago's not going anywhere (playoff wise) so what do they have to lose?

Thats not what i saw
I didn't see it, either. He was fine but, again, he could use a little more time at a lower level.

I'm not saying they'll win the Cup but the Chicago forwards aren't that terrible at all. Some decent (scrap) pieces.

Bedard has looked great. I said 60 points on the season.. I'm sticking to it but could see it aging poorly.haha

He was fine. Nothing great but he didn't look out of place by the end of the game. He needs some work... and some weight.

Bedard looked good mostly but honestly I was most impressed with Korchinkis game tonight, he keeps that up Canadian fans can forget about him for the WJC.
I agree.

It's still early in the season I know... But maybe the kid just isn't ready for the NHL yet? With the media hounding him, the pressure of being considered the next "great one", f*** I wouldn't be able to handle that shit. Maybe having him in the minors for another year or two to develop a bit wouldn't have been a bad idea. The kid is only 18. At 18 I was complete f***tard who had no idea what I wanted to do. Not much has changed... but I'd like to think I have a bit of a better head on my shoulders now. I actually feel really bad for Bedard, and I hope we don't ruin him.

It'll probably take him about half a dozen games to figure things out, it was the same way in junior.

It's the instincts with the skill and the attitude that are going to set him apart in this league.

Had his head up and looking for options every time he had the puck, which was a lot. When to speed it up and slow it down. When to just fire it in there. Lots of players can shoot good or skate fast. It's the way they think the game that makes HoFers.

If this is what game 1 of this kid looks like, I can't wait to see how he looks by the 20 game mark once the jitters have gone and he's more accustomed to the league. I think by the end of this season, we'll be looking at this kid as a borderline top-10 center already, up there with Aho, Hintz and Lindholm.

He looked pretty ready. Yeah, he is going to get physically bullied this year, but he still looks like he will rack up the points. He will learn a lot more getting a year of NHL experience then he would sleep walking through another junior season.
