C Connor Bedard (2023, 1st, CHI) Part 6

This team will be significantly worse than the 07-08 team. That 07-08 team scored 239 goals. The Hawks last year scored 204. And this years teams is just as bad if not worse than last years.

You are comparing a likely lottery team to a team that battled for a playoff spot.
I'm also not talking about the overall team but rather the offense and there is enough top end talent there for Bedard to work with just watch tonight.

I took the day off to watch Bedard/Crosby as both guys just have "it".

IMO health providing- he scores 45 goals but isn’t the best in terms of play driving and consistency shift to shift yet. I just think with the minutes and opportunities he’ll get; the skill set is too insane to not produce. Scoring is up.

Sure he’ll be the focus for defense but he’ll be on the ice with okay enough players in Hall and Jones behind him, and even if the Hawks are insanely bad and behind a lot- there’s garbage time points to be had.

I don’t think the eye test will be unbelievable but he’ll have flashes.

Full domination every shift and true superstardom comes comes in the next few years as he matures.

I'll do my best at the reverse jinx. Pens win tonight 5-0. Sid with hatty. Welcome to the show, new kid.

But I hope it is a classic 6-5 game with dueling hattricks.

To me the key for the Black Hawks power play is having Kevin Korchinski play the QB position and Bedard can work his magic and Hall, Perry and Lukas Reichel are probably collectively upgrades as a whole from what they had last year.
A teenager also making his NHL debut tonight QB'ing the Powerplay first unit over a veteran with 122 career Powerplay points? I would love for Korchinski to be ready for that, but I don't think it'll be this year, imo.

I imagine we're looking at Perry-Bedard-Donato and Hall-Jones to begin the year with Korchsinki getting a shot at PP2 during his tryout.

Maybe and while I love Seth jones overall and he gets too much flack for his contract he simply isn't a very good PPQB and Korchinski is plus he is a LHD while Jones is a RHD.

I think he could surprise just like he did at the U20 last year and the U18s 2 years ago.

Very excited to see how this season goes for him. As expected, he's struggled a bit in his first few games. He has the skill and mind for the game, but he needs to pick his spots better and get used to the flow of things. My guess is he takes around 10 games to adjust to the pace before he starts to hit stride. It'll be nice to see him finally play but I'm tempering my expectations a bit for now.

Just for fun I looked it up and Crosby had an assist his first game and was tied for 4th in NHL scoring his rookie season after 6 games then went scoreless in his 7th.

Bedard's over/under goal total is 32.5 and his over/under point total is 69.5.

Of course, this factors in that he (like any player) is far from a guarantee to play all 82. For instance, McDavid, who had 153 last year is over/under 135.5.

Yeah, so if he does stay healthy, Vegas expects him to be ~ppg player. High expectations, yes, but what he's shown so far absolutely commands that level of expectations.
