2 games in pre-season remaining for young Connor! What's the word in Chi Town, does he play one more game to prep for 10.10? I know my prep is done. The mancave is well stocked and ready for puck drop.

I'd say he gets 1 more. Probably the next game and then sits for the final one in St Louis.

So one reservation I had about his game that seems to be right was that he had a pretty limited move set on breakaways. He seems to like to get a little too cute with the stickhandling instead of just making one strong move and firing it. I'm sure he will adjust, he's too talented not to, but it was just something I noticed. Otherwise he's been pretty damn good and I see no reason to think he doesn't take the Calder this year.

As a Hawks fan I feel at a disadvantage when discussing Bedard because I really want to gush about him and his shot like other do but I know how much reading "homer" posts are annoying so I temper my enthusiasm a bit - don't want to come across as a bragging pudwhack.

But wow - pretty exciting.
As someone who got to watch him live in junior, a few times, and as a Redwing fan, the hawks fluking into him after barely tanking while the Wings have tanked for years and gotten nothing better than 4oa, I feel gross to your excited. 🤣

I don’t know what you’ve seen but you deserve basically his go to move, hide the puck on the back hand and go backhand, forehans, shot
His two main moves I saw in junior where the quick pull to the forehand, rip it under the glove and then there was the pull to the backhand, back to forehand and quickly tuck it five hole.

The 3 really good chances I've seen him have he attempted some version of the second one, when he would have been better off just pulling it either forehand or backhand and either ripping a quick shot or waiting out the goaltender and lifting a backhander. I'd like to reiterate these are literally from his first 3 preseason games of his career, and it will most likely not be a problem for him going forward as he is sure to adapt. I just thought it was interesting seeing what translated and what doesn't at the pro level.

Hawks announcer Vosters is so bad he's going to make everyone hate Bedard for all his cringe commentary.
There’s actually something to this. You almost feel bad for Bedard.

Haven’t heard a man this bad since Mike Goldberg of UFC fame, tried doing hockey in the late 90s. He’d be perfect at ESPN, treating fans like they have no idea what they’re watching. Calling games like 1970s roller derby matches were done. Now that I think about it, does he do games for ESPN? Someone there is just as annoying.

Between Pang and the woman he did the last game with, I’m not sure who had to correct him more on hockey details. It’s embarrassing. He continuously butchered a Detroit player’s name the entire game and nobody came to his rescue. He sounds like a 12 year old kid doing the game in his bathroom mirror.

2 games vs NHL rosters in the preseason : 0+0 (Red Wings & Wild)
2 games vs mostly NHL prospects and AHL ers in the preseason : 1+4 (Blues & Red Wings)

not saying what ever you want to hear but
i for one, want to wait and see how he'll perform in game #1 of the regular season first.

There have been several prospects at this preseason, who've performed, produced,
played better, more consistent hockey what Bedard.

I still have low expectations for his rookie season.
I know many have bigger, big.

That actually shows incredible talent and dexterity.

He gets poked and he ends up having to pull the puck back like a spinorama (so it wouldn't count), but the ability to readjust his balance and angle quickly enough to still almost get a good shot.

I'm calling it now, we are going to see him score goals like the OV goal against Phoenix. Ones that are mind bending.

McDavid went 0+5 in his first pre season in 5 games.

Crosby went 1+3. If you are drawing conclusions from this, then they should be positive because other than put the puck in the net, which we all know he knows how to do, he’s been incredible.

His defensive game and passing/vision has been way better than I ever imagined.

While I think it's a steep upwards battle to argue Bedard at this point in his career is better than a few players left off the list, his placement on it likely did exactly what they were hoping for which is get people to talk about the list.
If the list is about players going into this season I don't think that it's so outlandish to suggest that Bedard might score enough to be considered the 50th best player in the league he is really that skilled.

I honestly don't think that Bedard has stopped developing and he is going to figure things out really fast and adapt and will be a superstar very quick maybe this season but sometime during next season IMO.

Not a lock but as close as it gets.
