Don't pollute the boards with your d1ckhead attitude and 'take the L' bs. He said the shot looked like a Matthews shot, that's it.

Nobody needs you coming in and flashing your semantics badge around like a tough guy.
why is this even being argued ? Saying something « looks like » something else is a comparison in and of itself. I agreed with the poster and went a step forward saying I think it’s more deceptive and better.

Stop bringing up posts that were settled from pages ago. It’s juvenile.

I predict he will be a player that just keeps getting points despite not standing out like some others. Wayne and Crosby come to mind. His goalscoring will be era-best, maybe up there with the GOATs but also think his playmaking will be elite leading to multiple Art Rosses. He seems to have that "it" factor.

I think, at least at this stage, he's the closest thing we've seen to Gretzky just in that it's not obvious just watching him skate around that he's a cut above others. He just makes continually makes plays that lead to goals at a ridiculous clip. Of course, once you see his shot you see that that's special. But he's not jaw-droppingly dynamic or impressive in any physical attribute.

Bedard's discipline will take him that much farther too. Extremely well spoke kid who knows what being the face of the NHL means. He wants to be better than everyone else and he knows what it takes. He's going to keep working on things like his skating (which is still very very good right now as it is) and become virtually unstoppable. Much like McDavid has done with improving his shot velocity and where he can score from.

Bedard's bullet-like release is going to be defining of the current fast-paced NHL. Slap shots are down year-by-year recently, so his wrist shot may be much like what Ovechkins slap shot has been during his era.

This is going to be an amazing season ahead with Ovechkin, Crosby, McDavid, and Bedard all in the league together.

Crosby stood out a lot really, very visibly dominant with the puck on his stick. Even without the puck his deflections and hockey sense stand out. Watching old games with Wayne you almost have to look really hard to see moments where he has the puck for very long or does something that really wows you. Bedard will be somewhere in between them in his visible dominance but will probably put up points like Crosby but more heavily skewed towards goal scoring. His shot will allow him to dominate like that.

I’m not seeing things I hope on hype but his zone entries during the game were so impressive. 25s of this clip gives a glimpse, he had a couple moves crossing the blue line that made me go holy shit.

His puck skills and deception there are criminal. Small game puck placement to gain positional advantage and make space or beat defenders is crazy, just crazy. Sixth sense like

Probably biased and my subconscious is pushing this comp but reminds me partly of Crosby and Kaner in this aspect

He is so fun to watch play, my god. It looks like he has total freedom to do whatever he wants out there. I know a lot of those clips weren't even strength, but the time and space he creates for himself through attacking and timing defenders through their weak spots in tight is marvellous.

seems he's more of kane style wise in the way that neither one play overly quick or fast, they're both very elusive and know how to find space without engaging defenders in puck battles, his shot is obviously a league above kane's but the rest of the game is similar imo, and his constant desire for the puck at all times, the ability to produce in big games so far etc...but bedard dedication to the game now at 18 is where kane didn't get to until late 20s so the ceiling is a notch or two higher for sure

Will be interesting to see people reaction after more of such lopsided games by this very weak Blackhawks team, let’s be clear here, at this point Bedard can’t take over a game like rookie Sid and Ovie did, but he should certainly get some PP snipes
Im glad you already have that figured out after 2 preseason games.

Until the real stuff starts nothing matters.
