And his second. And his third.Lost his first face off of the game...
I found he looked a little intimidated. A little out of place.
This will take time.

I agree.I just don't understand why is the NHL so bad with marketing? Why pump someone SO much before he even plays his first game?
Why not work with McDavid, who's the legit best player, best product, proven track record?
There's so much to lose if Bedard has a mere avg season. Its not Bedard's fault obviously.
Nhl is backwards with lots of things unfortunatelyI just don't understand why is the NHL so bad with marketing? Why pump someone SO much before he even plays his first game?

They are. Oilers have the most national games of any team in the league this year. And they're a Canadian team.I just don't understand why is the NHL so bad with marketing? Why pump someone SO much before he even plays his first game?

I think they just finally realized they need to be marketing star players. Maybe after seeing the effect Messi is having on soccer in the US.
Oh the social media stuff I have no idea. I'm old.Dude.. they're pumping Bedard so hard on Youtube and social media in general... McDavid has next to no coverage. he just had a 150 pts season.. yet almost no marketing about if he's going to repeat it this year or surpass it?
From a marketing stand point, they're extremely poor. Worst part is Bedard might flop... who knows.

The amount of pressure people are putting on him is insane. It’ll come but it’s going to come naturally, as he fills out physically. Unfortunately we’re gonna have morons calling him a “bust”during the year, and that’s just ridiculous. 18 year olds don’t normally show the flashes he does.
He’s probably going to be much closer as a rookie, to what Jack Hughes was, than to what McDavid was.. I’ve watched 3 complete games now. The last two against a Detroit team playing mostly young players, especially on the blue line, and yes, it’s true… he has a couple of moments where you see something special, but then you don’t hear anything from him for a period. Most of his moments are on the man advantage too. And yes, his goal was an empty netter. That doesn’t mean he’s not gonna be a super star player though.
Those few inches McDavid had at 18 compared to Bedard, is huge. When you watched McDavid in his first preseason, it was him making plays left and right. That’s just not the case with Bedard, but it doesn’t mean anything long term. It’s just physical nature. He needs to fill out. Just like Jack Hughes had to. You can see how great he’s gonna be when they’re on the PP, but 5x5 he struggles some. He’s learning to play in a league where there’s no space out there.
He’ll get better every game as he physically matures, and gains experience playing against NHL talent... Give the kid a break. He’s not a bust if he’s not McDavid right off the bat.
He’s been the best player on the ice hands down
He was much better / more confident in the 2nd period. The assist will help. On the minus side, he is too easily pushed off the puck and his faceoffs need a lot of improvement.
I didn't see the 1st but he was the most dangerous player in the 2ndWhat? lol, thats funny
He's physically not ready
I'd prefer another year below the NHL but I'm the exception around here. What? lol, thats funny
He's physically not ready
He has ten shot attempts and could easily have 4 goals. What game are you watching? What? lol, thats funny

No im with you man, he needs a year at least of development.I'd prefer another year below the NHL but I'm the exception around here.
It will take time but he had some good play out there too and good positioning defensively in the neutral zone. And his second. And his third.

You probably have a great ride but marketing about trying to get you into another car that you don't know much about.I just don't understand why is the NHL so bad with marketing? Why pump someone SO much before he even plays his first game?
