Yeah I can agree with that but the highlight of that play really wasn't him, was the true definition of a secondary assist, even though it was a bit smooth. I'm not saying the guy isn't going to be a superstar, he absolutely without a doubt will be, but he's never going to be Crosby / McDavid or of that mold. I just do not see that, never did. He didn't deserve the excess hype pressure he received, he seems to be focused on hockey which is good, he's going to be among the game's elite, without question but this generational bullshit is stupid, same of stuff with Matthews. As a real hockey fan you just know immediately, everyone knew immediately when they saw Crosby and McDavid, it wasn't a matter of if, more of just when.

What are you even talking about? He made the play. He drew the Pittsburg defender up high and gave Vlasic a clear path to the net.

The more I read this thread the more I realize how poor people are at evaluating players.

The role of luck in scoring points is really overrrated. If every 18 year old playing competitive hockey in the world played one game in the NHL, my guess is that Bedard would be the only one to register a point. Many would go all 82 games without a point. It's that hard to even touch the puck, nevermind get close to the net with it.

What an awesome debut.

He looked great out there VS a veteran heavy team that has quite a few soon to be hall of famers.

I couldn't even imagine being that young and looking across the ice and seeing Crosby Malkin Letang EK etc

I didn't say he was lucky please quote where I said he was lucky, I just said it was a prototypical secondary assist, I like the kid he will be a top 10+ player you see it, you're thinking way too deeply and being defensive about it.

Not sure what GOD KING MICHKOV is on about it was a pretty nice secondary assist. Kid looked good. Chicago played their asses off
Yeah a Montreal fan def has no feeling towards my user name! interesting! Gave the kid credit it was smooth, Goodluck with your D-man though! def gonna work out.

I watched him, looked like a great first showing for a rookie, I think he ends up being a little bit of a Patrick Kane/Jack Hughes hybrid, probably a 90-100 pt player after this year for most of his career
This exactly, love being attacked for being realistic!

Lol I actually wanted Michkov , why go after a respected upstanding poster like myself? You sound extremely insecure and are clearly not an upstanding poster like myself unfortunately. Your true colors are showing and they aren't pretty

I didn't attack you, you literally posted my name in all caps and pretended I had some kind of agenda, I want all of the kids from this previous draft to succeed. And I've repeatedly said I believe Bedard would be a top player in the NHL since he was 16. You typed my name in all caps then play victim XD and I never said you were a bad guy, relax lol

You're clearly biased tho , and then you try to make me seem biased by bringing up Reinbacker in a bedard thread , just weird online behaviour if you ask me

I’m not sure which highlight you watched but clearly you have an agenda if you can watch this and argue it wasn’t Bedard who made the play happen.

People are still not getting what a smart player Bedard is. Every time I see him I get the sense he's got an almost Gretzky like quality to his game. Gretzky never really made spectacular plays, or overpowered the opposition with speed strength or dangles. He was just ahead of the play all the time and knew where to put the puck to create chances, so most of his points looked like "easy" plays where he didn't do much. Bedard has the ability to be ahead of the play in much the same way.

Anyway I'll just add the additional note that Bedard lead the Hawks in xGF% by a comfortable margin. For a very young player in his first NHL game to be a play driver like that is impressive even if he didn't end up scoring.

I thought his assist was a pretty savvy subtle play

Yup, he drew one man out of posiyion then made an easy pass to a teammate in a great spot with time and ice to make a play. He made it look easy and of course it depends on what his linemate can do with the time and space provided, but it was perfect use of the other players on the ice. I think it was also Bedard who made the great zone entry to kick off the whole sequence.

Bedard made that whole shift happen IMO, that NOT a weak secondary assist.

I guess I should have said more than it was smooth, yeah it was a very savvy play, I'll more specific next time. I guess I remember the old threads where everyone was saying Crosby was a secondary assist king (LOL). I'm rooting for the guy in every way, doesn't matter though I would be utterly shocked if he's not top 10 in the world minimum starting next year.
