Regina is really early in a rebuild. They have some great pieces to build around (Howe), they'll be fine.

They were one or two players away from being contenders, it was better for them to be patient and build a team. If anything, they should've sold Svozil.

They'll be a really good team in 2 years though.
In other words to the question you are responding to Regina screwed up, they aren't really in a rebuild they just suck aside from Bedard for the most part.

Really early in a rebuild? They have had Bedard for 3 years and been bad to average all 3 years with him. That is not early in a rebuild in the CHL. They sold the future right before Bedard showed up and because of that had no ability to put enough talent around him. They are going to look back and wonder what if as they have squandered 3 years of arguably the single best prospect that has ever come through that league.

Paddock did try. He screwed up royally on the Oremba deal, which didn't work out at all.

He tried drafting Wood but Wood was committed to college hockey.

Managed to luck out with Suze and Svozil performing as imports. But yeah outside of Howe there's barely any talent on that team.

I like what Regina did with their lines tonight.

I like what Howe does away from Bedard. Bedard can play with anyone, splitting him and Howe gives them two lines to contend with.

Saskatoon dominating the play, and then Bedard steps on the ice and the Pats immediately score. The gap between him and the next closest player in this game is not close, even if Saskatoon clearly has the better team.

He has some incredibly nice primary assists so far.

I just have to bring up this gem:

I'm gonna have to say this preemptively before people get freaked out. Saskatoon and Regina are going to play each other in the first round. Bedard will be driven off the puck on every play by one of the best defensive teams in the country and will likely not pile up a ton of points in the playoffs. No that won't hurt his draft stock, no it won't be a question mark on his game, no it won't be a bad sign for the next level. Any prospect except McDavid would struggle against the playoff series that Bedard is about to play.

I was nervous watching the Pats defend a 2 goal lead. This series will see a game 7, should be a gooder.
