McDavid 3 all time?
Gretzky
Orr
Lemieux
Howe
Lidstrom

I could go on, but McDavid isn’t (yet) in the top 10. Equipment, especially skates plays a huge role in what Connor can do. The ice is better too.
Who the hell puts lidstrom thar high? Holy overrating

Mcdavid is guaranteed top 3 after this year. He has as dominant a peak as any player in NHL history outside of 99 and 66.

His prime now has 5 rosses with another 1-3 still possible.

He has exceed the hype when he was drafted some how

Bedard is going to need a lot to go right to get that level. As a prospect though Mcdavid was not expected to be as dominant of a player than he ended up becoming.

1. Mcdavid wont end the goat he will be 3rd best all time though
2. Draisailt wont be coming 2nd ever again after this year (it will be Mcdavid for another few years)
3. Bedard breaks the record for rosses
4. Matthews isnt relevent here. He isnt a generational player like Bedard will be or Mcdavid is
Not everything is about Toronto dude.

I can see the argument for him or Harvey or bourque as the 5th best player doesn't need to be another forward and they is a serious case for all 3.

No he isn't top 3 of all time after this year, even in terms of peak as there is this guy named Orr........
His prime now has 5 rosses with another 1-3 still possible.
He is really building a case for the Big 5 right now but there is still work to do.
He has exceed the hype when he was drafted some how
He is matching the hype IMO

Sure Bedard needs some "luck" like most players but one thing is has going is the desire to be the best when games are on the line and important as he simply wills scoring from his stick and mind.

Considering this is the Bedard thread I will leave this McDavid discussion with he’s not in my top 10. And in my opinion Bedard will be the more impactful NHL player. As I said, this is the Bedard thread. That ends the McDavid discussion.

I'm gonna have to say this preemptively before people get freaked out. Saskatoon and Regina are going to play each other in the first round. Bedard will be driven off the puck on every play by one of the best defensive teams in the country and will likely not pile up a ton of points in the playoffs. No that won't hurt his draft stock, no it won't be a question mark on his game, no it won't be a bad sign for the next level. Any prospect except McDavid would struggle against the playoff series that Bedard is about to play.

Bedard is clutch. Did you see him play in the WJC? He took it up a notch in do or die games. Just like he did in Saskatoon. There is no way the Blades are going to contain him. I just hope the Winnipeg Ice have better luck in the second round, when the Pats inevitably send the Blades packing.

PS...as of today, Bedard has 8 points (5 goals, 3 assists) in 2 games.

Orr and I'd argue Howe and Hasek were dominant than McDavid IMO as well

adjusting for eras, this would put Orr's peak season (70/71) at a 149 point pace this year. Mcdavid is amazing and definitely already top 10 all time but he doesn't hold a candle in regards to how dominant he was over his peers compared Gretzky, Lemieux, and Orr

2 assists so far, 6 minutes remaining in the first period. He could probably have another assist on a great set up that the Pats didn't score on.

And now a goal.

4-3 Pats late in the second. 2 goals, 2 assists for Bedard as he picks up a point on every goal so far.

I think one of the best signs with Bedard across the WHL and WJC is that he seems to rise to the occasion in big games. That is an enormously valuable trait.
Looks like they are properly taking away his time and space just like the poster predicted

I had hoped Regina would hang on to take the 3 games to none lead in their series. Still time for OT heroics though.
