Bedard is better at everything other than skating, when compared to McDavid in their respective draft years. Bedard is getting underrated by some in here. Definitely above the Matthews tier prospect.
I had Crosby better at 16...but at 17 they are very equal. This is what I said two months ago and was laughed at. He is the best pre-NHL player since Lemieux. I don't think that means necessarily he will reach the peak McDavid has in the NHL but just straight up comparing them at the same age Bedard is better.
I feel like barely anybody is aware of the fact that he had the more productive junior career than McDavid, I don't see this stat being mentioned anywhere and feel like I'm crazy for thinking he's better than McDavidThis is what I said two months ago and was laughed at. What happened to Crosby in this alternate universe of yours? This is what I said two months ago and was laughed at. He is the best pre-NHL player since Lemieux. One thing I'll say about Bedard is that he has more "wtf" statistical moments than McDavid did in juniors. The 28 points in 15 games as a 15-year-old, 23 points in 7 games at the world juniors, and 71 goals in 57 games this year.I feel like barely anybody is aware of the fact that he had the more productive junior career than McDavid, I don't see this stat being mentioned anywhere and feel like I'm crazy for thinking he's better than McDavid
CHL Career
McDavid 1.72 P/GP
Bedard 2.02 P/GP
WJC Career
McDavid 1.38 P/GP
Bedard 2.08 P/GP

Tough to say now at 17..I have them equalHe's better than Crosby was at the same age. Crosby was better at 16 though.
Yeah, I think the unique thing with him is that he has goalscoring/shoot-first instincts with incredible goalscoring tools but approaches the game like an elite playmaker. Super rare combination. So his projection could really go anywhere imo.Fine I’ll be the one who takes the hate for saying it. For everyone saying “McDavid had the incredible skating that made him so much more projectable as a generational player”, Bedard’s goal scoring instincts in combination with his shot is just as projectable. He may not be the player who looks as dominant because McDavid’s speed sticks out every second he’s on the ice, but he has the potential to be just as dominant on how he effects every game he plays if he achieves his ceiling (McDavid ostentatiously may have exceeded his projected ceiling as a prospect).
Also can we stop comparing Bedard’s point pace to other players to find comparables? Bedard is first and foremost a goal scorer, a role that’s very well known to have lower point totals but higher goal totals, even if Bedard’s playmaking is also incredible. Nobody talks about where Ovechkin sits amongst the all time greats because of his point pace.
Also seems to rise to the occasion in big games and put up insane numbers in playoffs/intl tournamentsOne thing I'll say about Bedard is that he has more "wtf" statistical moments than McDavid did in juniors. And he's probably the first high level prospect since Gretzky who doesn't really jump out at you when he's just skating down the ice with the puck, but then he'll just kill you with devastating offensive plays over and over again.

... Crosby did 102 points in the NHL at 18 and 39 goals.
Bedard has a tough challenge next year
If he reaches his ceiling he is going to be scary to defend against. Players and teams can’t over commit to him to prevent shooting opportunities or else his play making will punish them, which in turn will create more shooting opportunities. For instance, when Ovechkin or Matthews gets the puck from inside the circles, everyone in the rink knows that’s going on net yet they find ways to score anyways. Bedard has the potential to keep teams guessing, while also possessing top of the league shooting talent. That rare mix is just as projectable as being generational as previous greats.Yeah, I think the unique thing with him is that he has goalscoring/shoot-first instincts with incredible goalscoring tools but approaches the game like an elite playmaker.
