C Clayton Keller - Boston University, NCAA (2016, 7th, ARI)

Man...I love me some Keller...was praying the Blues could find a way to move up in last year's draft to grab him. Local kid will debut in STL tomorrow - can't wait to see it.

Wouldn't shock me that much to see him put up 40-50 points next year, Aho like production seems likely. Maybe even Marner like production? Who knows.

Nope team usa is to good

This is my team right now. Who needs to be in that I missed?

Tkachuk-Eichel-Kane
Gaudreau-Matthews-Kessel
Pacioretty-Pavelski-Keller
Kreider-Miller-Wheeler
Trocheck

Suter-McDonagh
Werenski-Jones
Fowler-Faulk
Carlson

Schneider
Gibson
Anderson

Keller over Saad, Oshie, Atkinson, JVR, Palmieri etc.????

Not a chance. I don't see Tkachuk making it either.

Just to confirm he wont burn a year of his ELC or will he be a RFA in 2 years?
There,

It basically all depends on the player's age, but no, in Keller's case it won't burn a year of his ELC. If the player is 19/-, he can play 10 games or less and it won't do anything to his ELC. If he's 20/+, I think one single game automatically burns a year.

Not one bit with a little knowledge of hockey.

Well you are correct, their speed levels are probably similar, just lately I've been watching more Marner and understand Keller can skate.

They haven't even played a game in the NHL and you think Keller is better. You might be right, but you might be wrong. Like I said, a bit early to say who is better.

Excited to see him make his debut against the Blues, I wanted him at the draft so badly. Yotes have a good one here.

If he's not ready for prime time, Keller is eligible for the AHL next season.
Indeed. I think he's likely NHL-ready, but at the very least he's AHL-ready.

I think so by mid next season.
Extremely unlikely. If he can be a 40-50 point NHL rookie next year, I'd consider that a strong outcome. Highly unlikely to be better than guys like Saad/Oshie/Atkinson/JvR by mid next season, and has almost no chance to make the US Olympic team.

I'd use Marner's season this season as a benchmark for Keller. If he can replicate that, he has to be in consideration.

I don't think Marner would make a US International best on best team this year either. so Keller would have to have a Patrick Kane-like rookie season to even be in consideration.

It's not the skill, that much is always obvious. But for players like Keller, Marner, Kane and Gaudreau, you aren't bringing them in to play an elite two-way game, and there's only so much room on the top 2 lines of an entire country's program.

I don't see him making team USA. Obviously he might if he out performs expectations, but let's see how he does before we start putting him on the national team.
