C Clayton Keller - Boston University, NCAA (2016, 7th, ARI)

I hear Keller might be week to week with a knee injury... Anybody know if he's going to miss the World Juniors? Was really looking forward to seeing him.

Report I read on the Coyotes page said long term, 6 to 8 weeks. MCL injury so likely misses the WJC.

It sounds like he'll probably be fine. If not, maybe Mittelstadt would get a shot.

Boston University coach David Quinn announced on Wednesday that Keller is "week-to-week" after suffering a lower-body injury in last Saturday's victory over Northeastern.
While the term "week-to-week" doesn't provide much clarity on Keller's timetable, Quinn stated that the injury is less severe than originally anticipated. Keller has posted five goals and nine points in his first seven collegiate games. If he can return in time, the 2016 seventh-overall selection is expected to be a top-six forward for Team USA at next month's World Junior Championship.

Sounds like he'll be alright

He's done well since coming back. He has 6 points in 3 games. He is one of the players I am most excited to watch at this years WJC (and probably the most out of non-leaf prospects or high-end draft eligibles). Glad he is looking good. While Strome is held in higher regard, Keller is my favorite prospect in the Coyotes system.

I think Clayton Keller will be a better NHL centre than Dylan Strome for the Coyotes.

I think so too. I've seen Dylan play live multiple times for the Otters over the past two years and when he plays against a team like Sudbury on a Wednesday night he looks great but against the Generals and Greyhounds when it mattered he was invisible. You wouldn't think he was on the ice during the WJC summer games as well in Plymouth when I drove up there to watch them. I understand the hype around him because he is good, but I think he is really over rated.

I think Keller and Dvorak are going to be better than Strome. He's good but i just think both, although smaller, just have it to be slightly better but all could very well be top 2 line C's.

Saw Keller live yesterday and he was very impressive. He was the player in that game I was most excited to see and he lived up to expectations. Great edge work, and great explosiveness as shown on the play he set up Colin White.

Off to a good start today. Already scored vs Russia on a great deke.

I'm a big fan of Keller going back to the start of this thread. I think the comparisons are obvious. Gaudreau like most likely, and who knows maybe even Kane like one day. That's how high I think his ceiling is.

I don't think he has Kane upside but would love to be wrong about that. I certainly don't wish we had taken brown anymore, though if brown isn't hurt who knows, maybe he looks better than Keller. I think he's a winger in the nhl also, tough to be a smaller center in the Pacific.

Don't see him as a center in the NHL.

We'll see. His defensive zone positioning is really good. He plays like a center in every way. I know there are some prospects that play center, but play the actual game like a winger. He plays like a center.

Maybe it's just because he's wearing #19, and he's been great at moving the puck on the PP for USA, but he has reminded me a little of Backstrom at the WJC at times.

Not a bad comparison at all stylistically. If he ends up being even close to that good I'll be psyched.
