C Clayton Keller - Boston University, NCAA (2016, 7th, ARI)

Looks like the kid Chayka is going be a good GM, made a few vet GMs look foolish. Things looking up in Arizona, Keller is going be a dynamite player. Then in a few years they offersheet Matthews
So, the poorest team in hockey is gonna pick a fight with the richest, great idea... And lets wait til Chayka accomplishes something before we start touting him as getting one over. Glad to see an Ivey grad doing well, but calm the hype train down a bit.

The Leafs would buy the Coyotes if it meant keeping Auston Matthews, let alone match an offer sheet that Arizona would never be able to reasonably afford.

Looked super poised for a 17 year old, in complete control and knew what he wanted to do. Unfortunately had Connor Garland on his line who is a total hotdog of a player. Keller dangled a couple of guys real good and basically ran his team's PP.

Looks like a good one.

Yotes have a nice prospect pool. Love the Keller pick.

Very good chance he goes to the OHL instead of college this fall.

Hopefully not. College would be a better challenge for Keller as he is too good for the CHL. Playing against men would prepare him better than the CHL would.

I remember an undersized kid who set scoring records at the USNDP who came to the OHL, I think it worked out fairly well for him. 3 cups, a conn smythe and a Hart Trophy 9 years later. Either option is fine, he'll be in the AHL or NHL most likely in a year.

Went to the scrimmage Friday night and he is a clone. Size, moves, hands are an exact replica. Kane is Kane so maybe Keller ends up 90% of Kane but I came away very impressed.

Warren Rychel tells the pipeline show that the Coyotes have offered Keller a NHL contract (starts around the 5 minute mark).

Rychel is bewildered that Keller hasn't accepted the contract already and come play with his best buddy Logan Brown, play 100 games and play in the Memorial Cup. Of course he is a little biased as he wants Keller on his Spitfires.

He also says that Keller's representatives and the Spitfires see things differently on a couple of issues.

Who has his rights?

Edit : nevermind, read the rest of the thread.

He should definitely go to Windsor, Stanley will need all the help he can get to put up points lol.

Great interview. Kinda rare for a gm to be that open when talking about a player haha

I REALLY want to see him play for Windsor. Please happen. He would put up so many points in the OHL.

How many times does he have to say he's going to BU for people to realise he's going to BU? He's been in Boston since July.

For Keller the best way to improve his game is to play college hockey. Build up your weak body and play against a lot older players. Also Windsor is now top team and putting up over 100 points means nothing.

You never know really. Jeremy Bracco said he was going to school and then left and went to play for Kitchener shortly after, so who knows. If the Coyotes think it's best for his development to go to the OHL (not saying it is), then he might be inclined to listen to them.

I doubt Keller is going to be getting mad about ice-time, which seems to be the main strife in the Bracco situation (and whether he was promised a top 6 role). Things can change, but I'd say he's pretty much a lock to do the year at BU, then go either to the Coyotes or their AHL affiliate. I would have loved to of caught him live, but he will make college hockey exciting this year, it seems like BU almost has a fab 5 type recruiting class. Is this the strongest college class in recent years? Between Bellows, Keller, Fabbro and Oettinger, it seems to be the strongest one I can remember, granted I don't follow NCAA too close.
