saw him live against Russia. Was the best forward and that included Glass Dach and Cozens.

It’ll be interesting to see where he goes in this coming draft. Teams seem hesitant to pick players early when they’ve been passed over even if the talent is clearly there.

Sebastian Aho (New York) was taken in he 5th round after having a very good season in Swedish league as a 20 year old.

Adam Mascherin was taken in the 4th round after being a 2nd round pick and having two good seasons in the OHL. Including a 100 point season where the next highest scorer had 60.

Colton Paranko (3rd), Jason Demers (7th), Andrew Shaw (5th), Mike Hoffman (5th), Ondrej Palat (7th).

All overagers who had very good seasons and still taken later. Whoever ends up with Leason will be very happy though.

Tanner Pearson went at the end of the first round in 2012 after being passed over in 2010 and 2011. Henrik Borgstrom was a first rounder in 2016 after being passed over in 2015. Philippe Myers likely would have also gone in the first round in 2016 after being undrafted, but Philadelphia snatched him during his free agent window.

Freddy Andersen went to Anaheim in the 3rd round in 2012 after being a 7th rounder in 2010. Kings picked an unknown Wayne Simmonds in the 2nd round in 2007; Simmonds himself thought he was gonna be a late pick. Scott Parker ended up going in the 1st round in 1998 after being a 3rd rounder in 1996.

St. Louis took Scott Perunovich 45th overall last year in his third year of draft eligibility. Islanders took Mikko Koskinen 31st overall in 2009 in his 4th year of draft eligibility. Nashville (surprisingly) took 20 year old Magnus Hellberg ahead of 18 year old John Gibson in 2011.

And I'm sure we can all post a bevy of overagers who had big seasons who didn't amount to NHL players.

Can't he sign with an NHL team at the end of the year? Or no?

Just wondering why someone like Ondrej Vala was able to. Is it a certain amount of time after the draft that you are able to sign as a UDFA?
He can, but obviously teams will be trying to secure his rights via the draft. Ondrej Vala was draft eligible in 2016, 2017 and 2018 so he's eligible to be signed because he can't enter the draft again this year. Leason is still 19 turning 20 and has third year of eligibility.

I’m not saying that all overagers work out I’m just saying they are usually taken later than their stats indicate.

Freddy Anderson was a starter for Frolunda by the time he was redrafted with incredible numbers. Why wouldn’t someone take a proven goalie with a high second rounder?

Perunovich had a better season than Hughes last year and is 14 months older. Obviously I’d rather have Hughes, but one was a top ten pick and the other was a mid second rounder.

I personally see Leason going some time in the second round. I do think there will be a bunch of teams with low firsts or high seconds that regret it later.

Extended his point streak 4 minutes into the 1st period.

Up to 25 games now.
So he has a point in every single game?

This kid and Prince Albert must be setting some records right? Has there been any other CHL team that's only lost 1 game in their first 25 games?

I'd be a bit surprised by that. I can't think of the last undrafted re-entry to go that high. Trevor Lewis went 17th, Borgstrom went 23rd, and Pearson went 30th. Keep in mind, only Pearson was a 2-time re-entry. He is putting up ridiculous numbers though even when league and age-adjusted.

2011-2012: 91 point season (60 games) 6 points in the WJC.

If someone like Pearson went 30th with those stats,.. its a no brainer that a much, much better player
would go way higher than that,..in theory at least. (everything considered)

Leason will most likely play at least 62 games this season and even if his pace would slow down a bit (i don't see why it would thou)
we'd be still looking at 130-135 points in the regular season and with current pace; 140-145 points.

Then there's the play-offs, possible M-cup and can't forget the most likely WJC,
usually when players perform well there, it raises their stock, quite a bit.
- rack lots of goals and points and play well while doing so...

Does anyone see him going ahead of Dach/Krebs/Cozens?

I would think not at this time but if he torches the WJC (assuming he makes it/gets ice time) you’d have to think he deserves a look near, if not in the top 10.

No chance he goes ahead of them but I can definitely see him go 15-20. Krebs should go around that range (or a bit higher)
He’s a 1st rounder for sure though at this point

What happened in the past is meaningless because there has simply never been a guy who has come from nowhere like this to dominate to this extent. And is 6-4 and can skate.

I would not be shocked to see him go in the top 10-12 picks of the draft. There will be teams who think they can plug this player straight into their top-6 next season.

And I would have him ahead of Krebs and would think about Cozens but not Dach.

This is a really, really unusual case and there isn't a roadmap for how it will play out.
