While so many rookies fade away, as the games get faster and more is on the line, Horvat just keeps getting better and better. It's hard not to get excited about this kid.

Really is amazing to think that barely two years ago this kid was under a PPG at the OHL level. Now he's among the best players on his NHL club on a nightly basis and is pushing a PPG in his last dozen games. The kid is on a development curve unlike any we've seen in Vancouver in years. Certainly a breath of fresh air for this team.

One thing I think people seem to forget is that this has all begun right after Ronald Kenins came into the NHL and played on Horvats line. That's not to say Horvat wasn't impressive prior to that, but he wasn't hitting the scoresheet as often.

I feel like there is chemistry between those two given their styles of play. Kenins always taking the body and just simply knowing to put the puck on net constantly creates opportunities on that line. Surely that's part of the reason why Horvat is seeing the scoresheet more often now.

And I'm not saying that Kenins is solely benefiting Horvat. I think they benefit eachother.

Still, he's played impressive under the minutes he's given, and the players he's ended up facing against. Looking to be a great choice at 9th overall.

Horvat will be a Bergeron type IMO. I can see him hitting 60-65pts in the future. This season if he can reach 25-30pts I will be happy. I think he will hit 25 anyways. Next season it should be no problem to get around 20-30pts.

Not just a great rookie anymore. He's an integral part of the Canucks. He's getting regular PK shifts now and he's constantly going up against the other teams' top lines. He has also quietly risen to a tie for 8th on the team in goals (9 goals, tied with Linden Vey).

I love how he is getting more and more minutes every game. But more importantly, he is facing off against all the top end center's in the league.

WIllie D is trusting him with pretty much everything now.

Hard to believe this kid's only 19....as impressive as the point totals are his 200-foot game is even better.....aggressive back-check thwarted at least two glorious scoring chances the by the Isles, and the guy is a beast on the dot....what's his ceiling?....by age 22 or so, who knows?:handclap:

Well, scouts said he could be a ROR/Bergeron-lite player and it's looking like he certainly has the potential to become that player. I can see him being a 60 point player with Selke-level defense, as he starts to take off.

Currently 26th in the NHL in goals per 60 minutes of ice time, 90th in points per 60.

So essentially Bergeron? That's a first line player...wouldn't be surprised tbh, he's a home run pick at this point IMO. I see at least a selke in his future.

What I love seeing about Bo is that initially, WillieD would put him out there on the PK *just* to win the faceoff and then hustle his ass back to the bench. Now he's being left out there for a full shift. He's earned that trust the hard way and is just a workhorse.

Bergeron is pretty much a perfect comparison for Horvat. What he is doing at his age right now is scary what he is going to do in 3/4 years

Good call

Yep, who wouldn't want the 2 goals and 8 points that Hodgson brings to a teams offense. Sure he's slow as **** and can't play a lick of defense, but dat elite production more than makes up for it.

What's important is that you're not bitter.

Bitter or not Hodgson has been a giant failure, he can't crack arguably the worst team in professional sports roster. Probably shouldn't have bumped that post up, but whatever.

Canafan posted an interesting breakdown of Horvat's 5v5 production compared to players in his draft year and Horvat stacks up quite well, on my mobile otherwise I would have quoted the post on here.

Horvat's possession stats are getting better which is a good sign, since Kennis has been called out the two of them have churned out really good results against aome hefty competition. His possession stats were being weighed down by playing with a boat anchor like Dorsett, he's always been a strong possession player throughout junior so I assumed he'd churn out better possession results once placed with better linemates and he's done just that.

I know the sample size is small but I can help but be incredibly excited at what Horvat's done recently, I'll admit I wasn't a fan of taking him over Nichushkin but after seeing how Bo has progressed this season there's no doubt in my mind that we made the right pick. Bo Horvat is a guy you win with in this league he's built like an ox, has improved his skating tremendously, battles hard, plays his best when the chips are down and plays an effective two-way game. From what I've seen I think he develops similarly to Patrice Begeron, a two-way Corsi efficent centre who scores ~60 points a season. Don't think he'll ever be as good as Bergeron defensively (Bergeron is far and away the best defensive forward in the league) but he'll bring more power to his game than Bergeron.

I hate how people perceive two-way prospects on this forum, just because a prospect is efficent defensively doesn't mean he'll top out as a 3rd liner, it's incredibly ironic seeing how much this forum overvalues two-way NHL players.

Bitter? At the time of the trade, sure I was bitter. I'm a fan, he crapped on my team. I had every right.

But now? Nah, his career has derailed to the point where it's hard to be feel much of anything for the guy. Getting scratched on the worst team in the league? Switched to wing cause your defensive play is too bad for a team in last place? At this point I am generally thankful to Cody for wanting out.

Don't confuse my view of him as a crappy player with bitterness over the trade. If anything the former has been a salve to the latter.

Just scored a beauty of a goal.

Beat Burns off the wing, carried it hard to the net and chipped it over Niemi

Man this guy just oozes that big game player pedigree. Beauty of a goal when the team needed it most, driving by Burns and taking the puck to the net with him in tow is not an easy task...
