That is no ordinary player he's holding off, he's holding off 6'5", 230 lbs, Brent Burns.

Kind of shocked in the improvement in Horvat's foot speed....was a concern in junior but doesn't appear to be a problem in the NHL....he's starting to blow by people...and built like a tank....will be more than a handful in a few years. :handclap:

20 points, he should now be mentioned in Calder talks. Turning it on after all star game. Consistency and determination from our 4th line.

Burns has been an utter disaster in his own end this whole year, holding him off is no accomplishment. And it was a weak goal by Niemi. Chill.

Is this thread gonna be bumped every time Bo does something good?

Yes.

:sarcasm:

No one suggested he will win the trophy, he definitely deserves mention that he is one of the better rookies this year, even with Forsberg, Ekblad, Klingberg, Gaudreau ahead of him. To  the comment is selling his accomplishments short.

And I don't care that the thread gets bumped each time he scores. I never posted on this thread before :P

He isn't top 5.

He's behind:
Ekblad
Gaudreau
Forsberg
Stone
Hoffman
Lee

Sorry but the only Calder talks he's in are the ones you just initiated exclusive to message board banter. When the top forward candidates are going to end up at 60+ points and there are two defenders equally impressive, he's not in the talks.

He's having a good season for a rookie, but not a Calder caliber campaign. No need to be overzealous.

Agree with what's been said. Bo's having a very good 19-year old season as a rookie but shouldn't be in Calder discussions unless he really picks things up. That doesn't take anything away from him though; very promising young player for us that's developing nicely.

Ekblad is the only one on that list that hasn't had the benefit of extra development due to being older, not that the Calder considers that anyways.

Forsberg is only 8 months older than Horvat.

Agreed.

Forsberg and Ekblad are making it a two horse race.

Actually, their play of late is allowing other players to get back in that race. 3 points in the last 13 games for both of them. Horvat isn't even in consideration, though, it's Hoffman, Stone, Klingberg, Lee and Gaudreau making the push.

Yep. I'm tempted to make threads for the whole Canucks team just to see how far it goes.

This is a strong Calder year, in years past Bo might be considered a finalist

You'd probably have to go back to the 1930's or something.

20 points would never get a forward into Calder finalist territory. There are just always at least 5 better rookie seasons than that every year..

He wont be in the calder discussion but it should be kept in mind hes doing all of this from the 4th line at even strength with next to no PP time, I believe he started to get some PP time just recently on the 2nd unit a bit.

Wont be in the calder discussion but thats why us vc fans are impressed.
