Schneider is a good goaltender but it is a position that is a dime a dozen. There are only 2 roster spots for goalies in the NHL and a lot more for forwards. Teams are reluctant to choose goalies in the 1st round anymore and you will probably see that trend continue for a while. So if you can turn a starting G into a top 10 pick, IMO you do it. Horvat, at the least IMO, will be a solid 2nd line center. Similar offensive stats to Bergeron but maybe not quite as good defensively.

I would love to see a Matthias Horvat Virtanen line in two years...oh the insane damage they would do on the score sheet and in the corners.....my god.... My thoughts are this might be the Canucks 2nd or 3rd line by then. I am not as sure of Matthias being able to stay on the line but the other two would absolutely wreck havoc. I am crossing my fingers...

He is going to be a very good player. Always been a fan of his since his Knights days. No one quite raised up their draft rankings as much as Horvat in his draft year (save for Drouin). Since then, he hasn't looked back and kept progressing well.

Very happy for him. Hope he can one day don a Leafs jersey since he was a huge huge Leafs fan growing up.

5 points in 7 games now without PP time, while still maintaining a high end level of defensive posture for any level of NHL player let alone a 19 year old rookie. Sounds pretty good to me! I know Schneider is an excellent goalie, elite even, but the value of a goalie in a trade is never that high, just take a look at what a promising guy like Bernier returned.

To me Bo still looks a bit slow in terms of foot speed and startup/acceleration, which is something he can work on in the offseason. I see him becoming a high end two way C with elite defensive prowess and 50-60 point potential that knows what it takes to perform in the clutch, very much comparable to a player like Ryan O'Reilly.

Goalies don't go as high in the draft because they mature later and it is hard to predict which 17 y.o. goalie will pan out. Also, the reward is typically further out if they do work out.

This kid goes up against top centres every gsme and win draws. While other centres on the team losing draws

Once drafted by another team, more times than not, the team becomes your favourite. The Vancouver organization has treated him so well that I doubt he would look forward to leaving. His father was on the radio yesterday and the way he was talking, it sounded like Horvat is in love with Vancouver. His family was too. Connor McDavid also said the same thing, about how it would be his dream to play in the ACC. I doubt that'll happen unless he gets drafted by the Maple Leafs.

best player we've drafted possibly ever

He's progressing quite nicely, although he didn't look quite as sharp last night. I'm hoping for him to move up a line and possibly get better wingers a possession driver like Higgins or Burrows would do wonders for the kid.

After all the "rofl Canucks drafted Horfat over Nichushkin'!!1!1!1!1" comments I don't think you'd find more than 5 Canucks fans who would move Horvat for Nichushkin

I still would. :p:

Indeed. I defended Bo since day one. Where are all the haters now? There is lots of crow to be eaten.

Anddd this is why you should never represent a general Canucks fans' view. He's doing great but this is why your viewpoint here and in the Canucks forum won't be taken seriously.

I'm a huge fan of Bo Horvat though and hope that he continues his upward trend. I think he is going to be our second line center possibly in less than a year and he'll end up staying there if given the opportunity. He only has to beat out Bonino at this point.
